As a mom I think personally 12 is too young, but I know lots of children that are the same age who do play it. If your parents don't think it is good then it probably isn't.

my nephew plays it and he's 11... honestly, it's got alot of violence, some inappropriate language, and suggestive sexual themes. none of it (except for the violence) is really over-the-top.... but really, that's all entirely up to your parents. i always get the AC games for my nephew for christmas, so by that point, i can preview the game before hand with my copy. in defense of this decision, i wouldn't buy the games for him if his parents said not to. anyway, if your mother is willing to give it a chance, she should research it herself rather than sending you to do it for her (though that helps as well).
