What platform are you on? I sort of assumed any USB mic would work on XBox...and I think I remember someone mentioning using their kinect mic, but I'm not positive.

I'm all xbox. And ya its USB rockband mic. I plug it up and it does't feel like its on, nor when I'm playing a song. When i sing i hear nothing. I don't think the mic is broken. Im going to hook it up to rockband tomorrow and see if it does in fact work or not. I just wish someone or the Rocksmith staff would clear this up. there's a lot of confusion about "how to use a microphone in Rocksmith"
I've heard people saying using there mic on the controller, pluggin' in a usb mic and holding near the speaker and got the achivement. Lots of confusion... Please This game is awesome. Lets clear the air on the issue, lets get the real answer. out in the open!

Any mic should work. I got the trophy on the PS3 without trying because the wireless headset has a microphone. My friend got it because he forgot to turn off his bluetooth earpiece, so that is recognized too.

Should be the same on xbox

Sorry if I am asking a silly question but, I would like to know what is the "Trophy" you guys are referring to ? I hooked up the PS3 Bluetooth headset which initially did not work with Rocksmith; But, I discovered that when you 'Pair' same with the PS3 in auto mode, it configures it to use HD audio which apparently, Rocksmith does not recognize. So, I changed from HD to regular in the PS3's Settings/Bluetooth menu and then I heard it working in game, but I did not see any 'trophy' awarded. What am I doing wrong/missing ? Help would surely be appreciated.

PS3 trophies are similar to XBOX achievements. All games have a set of criteria that when achieved, grants you a virtual trophy that then adds to your level on psn. I dunno, it's all kind of silly really.

all i did was play a song with the headset on, and got the "sing along" trophy or whatever afterwards. I think you're supposed to sing as well, but I didn't.

Have you tried checking your volume settings? Otherwise I would try contacting Ubisoft Support by following the link in my signature.

There's an achievement (not sure what PS3 calls them) for singing along with the song. But a lot of people are finding that just plugging in a mic will trigger the achievement because it picks up the ambient sound from RS. Or maybe it just detects a mic and calls it good; I'm not sure.
