DLC What Would You Pay For ?

I don't want to rattle the PC Community (I hear that usually this DLC stuff is free on that platform) or was that years ago and now they are asking for fees for the tiniest stuff in games.

Anyway just to try and get some feedback for DLC with Far Cry 3 I wondered what your thoughts are on this subject.

There are already different Bonus Packs available for FC3 that have different content.

Some have different weapons for single or multiplayer parts of the game.
There is the Warrior pack with the tattoo editor that will surely be unlocked at some point anyway, and a mention of 4 new animals in single player with the Predator bonus pack.
Lost Expeditions has 2 new single player missions that take approx 40 mins to complete.

Would any of you guys pay to get any of that stuff separately to suit your needs if the price was right.

    And what about this.
Say that the FC3 Editor is upgradable and they can give us new Items, (or maybe they are already on the disc but have to be unlocked with a purchase)
Should Massive make 4 new multiplayer maps which all have different themes using different sets from the editor - These 4 new maps are playable in ranked multiplayer which would keep the clans happy, purchasing the DLC Pack would give you 4 new maps by the developers and 4 new whole sets of buildings / items / paint and stuff for the editor.

Plus a new weapon or new ways to humiliate your opponent at the end of the match and a new game mode, would you pay for that if the price was good?

    Game Modes
People keep talking about Predator mode, would you pay for it if it came with a pack and had other stuff with it.
Vehicles - I hope they change their mind and find a way in giving us them even if it is without guns just as transportation purposes but say vehicles came later as DLC with other things thrown into the pack would you pay?

I am just interested to know what peoples opinions are.

DLC on LittleBigPlanet was really big business, I am sure it could be with Far Cry 3 if they marketed it correctly.

    Have your say.

I would pretty much buy any additional map editor content right away.
Besides that, new weapons or game modes would be something else I'd pay for too.

I don't think game modes should be DLC. They should either come with the game or not at all, because otherwise you split the playerbase up.

DLC should only be things that can be accessible to anyone but only usable to the buyers.

For example, some additional map editor brushes. The buyer can create maps with these brushes, and anyone can play the map, but others cannot edit his or her map due to restricted content.

Far Cry has survived the test of time because of the map editor. Give the fans more, give us map editor related DLC!

If I like it as much as FC2, I'd like to see Ubi keep a team in place to keep churning out maps that represent entirely new 35-40+ hour campaigns, new islands, new goals, new enemies, scenarios where you struggle to decide whether to fight for Vass and the status quo over a threat attempting to take over the island(s) or v/v.

Basically I really liked to role of the mercenary, so while FC3 is a far different "campaign" I sure hope it develops into something of the mercenary role.

As I've said before, I'd be buying Ubi-authored map-packs for single player to this day and beyond if only they'd re-invest in their investment and keep the goods flowing.

Having said that, I've already prepared myself for something of a let down with FC3, yes, I know many didn't care for FC2 anywhere near as much as I did, so Ubi simply must go with what sells. When I first heard about predator, I thought I must really have missed something, then I come to find out it was more akin to a breserk mode where you turned into something of a man-beast or some such? If that's the case I'm very glad I missed it.

Anyway, full sized campaign packs, assuming it fits with the story line somehow. If not, make me some FC2-esgue campaigns to run on the FC2 platform or Dunia2 (or whatever they are calling it), I like the mercenary role, it fits very well with my single-player mindset.

Who knows, if FC3 is good enough, it might just become my new favorite of all time, right now FC2 is wearing that crown.

That would be possible WretcheddDrake if the content was given out as an online update to everyone who downloaded it, then the new maps with the DLC items would work for everyone like you say, but those wanting to actually create a map with these would have to pay for the privilege.
They could do the same with the content locked away on the disc but it could be a bitter pill to swallow for some knowing the content is there already but they can't use it unless they pay - Still other companies do it & get away with it.

It's business and they have to make money and if DLC means making money it also means that the game is still getting supported which is a good thing.

Maybe Content split into categories like Single Player / Multi Player / Editor.

If such content would be on the disc as Day1/Week1/Month1 buyable DLC then I refuse to buy it. That's just a spit in the face

Well I certainly wont be willing to pay money to get vehicles in MP. If thats the route they decide to go down... i.e not have them in the editor on release but offer them as paid DLC.

I would be willing to go for new

    SP:
    Missions
    Area
    Vehicles ( e.g a flying one)
    weapons

Note: NOT IN A SINGLE DLC BUT COMBINED INTO ONE .. AT A REASONABLE PRICE.

Consider Red Dead Redemption DLC when they release the zombie pack. It had 12 brand new missions, 4 brand new guns, 3 new multiplayer modes, new horses, new player skins. Feels like a new game when you enter the DLC.
Rockstar really know how to offer great DLC.

    MP:
Pretty much the same as above.
    Loads new modes
The ability to add in AI in the creator
    New weapons
    New vehicles
Creator DLC e.g edit the mechanic of certain items. For instance cars, you could edit their aesthetics, speed, suspension, damage, weapons attached.. stuff like that.

I would pay for weapons packs guns that looked cooler but packed the same punch as its on disk counterpart i would also pay for extra map editor content as i said a long long time ago to have map editor packs like industrial _ cranes ,tractors, construction sighns ,fork lifts, several types of pipes ect. also a military pack thats had a carrier several jets , missle launchers, hummers, the list goes on and on the game would always have a fresh look and be profitable. The only problem i could for see is hackers on the pc end somehow stealing content from maps that have dlc .

Like most of you, some really good editor add-ons are all I'd look for.

But like LBP did, it would be wise to include a few maps that use the new assets. This way, people that bought the DLC but either don't make maps themselves or don't play custom matches will also get a full opportunity to use the DLC to its fullest.

I wouldn't recommend more weapons or other things that aren't compatible with the current stuff. The Fortunes pack for FC2 was an example of this. The new weapons and maps were pretty cool, but only the four new maps even had the new features in them. Since not a lot of people bought the DLC, it made it next to impossible for those that did buy it to get in a match with the maps.
