    Ghost Recon Network FAQ v1.1.5

    General questions

Which platforms is the GRN available on?

The GRN is a service accessible both through our website http://www.ghostrecon.com/network, as well as through our iOS and Android apps :
Which features of the Ghost Recon Network are available ? Accessible to anyone – no login required

    • GunSmith Free mode – try out weapons and their entire attachments sets to make your own unique weapon. Weapons cannot be synced to your console.
    • GunSmith Gallery – post your unique weapons for everyone to see, or find a weapon you like created by others
    • Community news in Ghost Feed – get updates from the GRFS community from your main menu
    • Forums (read)
Accessible only to GR players – you need a Uplay account and to have played the game.
    • GunSmith Sync mode – customize your weapon anywhere, and sync it to your console or PC
    • Multiplayer stats – access your multiplayer performance
    • Friend challenges & friend activity – get news or challenges from your Future Soldier friends
    • Heatmaps
    • Unlocks – enter a unique code in the website to redeem one of the 3 exclusive GR Network weapons in Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Also, 6 additional attachment credits are offered when you download the iOS or Android app.
    • Squad management
    • Ghost Dossier – track your performance across multiple GR games
    • Ghost Tactics - tactical tips
    • Forums (write)
How much will I have to pay each month for the service?
The GRN is completely free ;-)

How can I join the Network?

You just need a free Uplay account, and a gaming platform (PS3/X360/PC) linked to your Uplay account. On consoles, launch the game, open the Uplay menu and link your console account from there. On PC, the installation or first launch should prompt you to create or login with a Uplay account. From that point on, all your game data will be accessible from the GRN (site & apps).Warning : without this link, your weapon customization and statistics can’t be connected to the Network.

I logged in with my Uplay account, but I don’t see any stats. Why is it not working?

You need to make sure you have linked your console to your Uplay account : when you launch the game, go into the Uplay menu in the GRFS main menu and link your gamertag/PSN ID. On PC, it is automatic. On top of this, you should make sure that you have indeed played the game so we can detect that you are an active Ghost Recon player and get your weapon or player information.

What is the difference between the Sync Mode and the Free Mode of GunSmith?

Free mode gives you access to all weapons and attachments in “demo mode” : try out any dream combination you can think of to create your own unique weapon.Sync mode allows you to customize your multiplayer weapons in the cloud – as a result, you will only be able to edit weapons and attachments you have unlocked or purchased in your multiplayer sessions.

How can I access Sync Mode?

Sync Mode can be accessed from the main menu. It allows you to customize any weapon you have unlocked in MP. In Sync Mode, select one of the 6 slots on the center of the screen and click “Edit Weapon” on the right hand side of the screen. This will bring up the current loadout for the class selected.

Can I use Sync Mode on my mobile or the web at the same time as playing on my console (synchronous use) ?
No. GunSmith mobile and GR Network services are meant to be asynchronous. You won’t be able to change your weapon on the web or your mobile if it is open on your console. Furthermore, to be able to edit your weapon on the web or your mobile, you will need to log out of or turn off your main console.

How can I redeem unlocks into GRFS ?
The GR Network site lists exclusive, free unlocks available to GRFS players for playing other GR games or performing certain actions. There are two types of unlocks :
    • Transparent unlocks : play GR Commander, unlock bonuses in GRFS. These unlocks require no action except playing and achieving the intended action.
    • Coded unlocks : there are 3 codes available that unlock bonus weapons. One code in Ghost Recon Alpha, one code in the WarmongersInc.net site, one code on the Kick Energy Drink cans in the US. These codes need to be input in the unlock section of the website, and once inputted, they are cleared. Those codes are only available for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Ghost Recon Future Soldier

    • IMPORTANT NOTE (for the 3 coded unlocks only), when a user plays GRFS, he will have to go back to the site, click “Transfer this unlock” next to each one and they will be redeemed within the game.
    • The 6 bonus attachment credits given to any user of the iOS/Android are accessible exclusively from the app. These credits will not add to your credits pool in the game. They can only be spent from within the mobile gunsmith app. The equipment purchased in the app with these credits can be saved back to the game.
If you have any doubts as to which unlocks you have or haven’t unlocked yet, please check the « GRN Unlocks » section on www.ghostrecon.com/network. The status of each unlock is dynamically updated.

Why do some unlocks work only on 360 and PC? Why not PS3? When will those unlocks be available on PS3?

We work with each of the first party manufacturers to optimize our games for each platform. As a result, unlocks can be different based on the platform and the nature of the unlock. If we have more unlocks available in the near future, we will make sure to let our players now.

I have played the Ghost Recon Future Soldier beta and have completed the beta questionnaire. I’m supposed to receive a “Beta award” in my Ghost Dossier. Where can I see this reward ?
The Ghost Dossier tracks your achievements and progress across all forthcoming GR titles. Part of your Ghost Dossier persona is comprised of medals. This is where you can find your “beta award”. To access the Ghost Dossier, click on the drop down menu in the top bar :

    Ghost Recon Network Website

It seems that the GunSmith Gallery (or something else on the website) is not working, do we have to use specific browsers and will the full website experience be available for my browser?
The GRN website has been designed to work with all browsers. As it is in beta however, we want to hear any bug or feedback our players can have. If you find the website to not be compatible with your browser, please let us know on the Ghost Recon Network forums or at grnetwork-support@ubisoft.com

When I click on GunSmith, it says that I have to install Unity Web Player. What is this plug-in? Is it available at no cost? Is it virus free?
Unity is a proven middleware, which is being used extensively by small and major studios. It comes free for the end user. More information about unity can be found at www.unity3d.com

I get a “Error loading Unity player- Bad file length” when trying to access GunSmith. Why and what can I do ?
Our GunSmith Web is comprised of a lot of weapons in 3D, and as such is a big file (around 100MB) to download the first time around. In some cases depending on the performance of your connection, it will take too long to download for your browser and this will result in this error. Possible fixes are :
    • If you are using a Wi-fi connection, try to hook up with a network cable to your router to improve the bandwidth.
    • Close down all other programs running at the same time, especially the ones with network intensive use such as home streaming services or P2P clients.
    • Check your proxy settings and try to establish a direct connection to the site
    • Or try GunSmith web from a different connection for the first time.
Main resource for fixes can be found here :http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/374...le-Length-quot Note that the Unity Player is not accessible from tablets and mobile devices. To use GunSmith on those devices, please download our apps available on Google Play and iTunes App Store. How do you use GunSmith on the web ?

    • Click and hold (“swipe”) to change attachment category, or select directly the weapon part on the weapon itself
    • Double click or long click on attachment to change
      • Note : you cannot select an attachment directly with your mouse, you need to bring it in the selection window
    • In Sync Mode, spend attachment credits by clicking the BUY icon on top of the screen
I can’t use the keyboard to switch between attachments, normal?
Yes, we do not support this functionality at the moment.
What does “Movements” means in the community heatmaps?
Movement tracks the movement of all active Ghost Recon players. As a result, heatmaps based on movements display the overall flow of players on a given map. It gives crucial tactical information to any player.
Ghost Recon Network app / Android

How do you use GunSmith on Android ?

    • Click and hold (“swipe”) to change attachment category, or select directly the weapon part on the weapon itself
    • Double click or long click on attachment to change
    • In Sync Mode, spend attachment credits by clicking the BUY icon on top of the screen
How is it possible to buy credit for the Sync Mode of Gunsmith? I thought the service was free…
Yes, it is free! Attachment credits are the GRFS in-game “currency”. They are earned solely by playing the game and are not redeemable against real life money.
I have an Android phone, but I can’t install the app on my phone, may you help?
If the app is working or not working with a phone in that list, please let us know at grnetwork-support@ubisoft.com !

    GunSmith Gallery

How to use the Gallery ?
The GunSmith Gallery presents the custom weapons posted by the Network of Ghost operators. You can filter weapons by usage (number of views, most liked) or nature (class, faction etc). The Gallery is freely accessed from any device with an internet connection, and is optimized for web browsers, tablet browsing and mobile browsing.Anyone, even users without a GRFS copy, can search and post weapons in the gallery. To post, you will only need a free Uplay login.

Can I post or search a weapon directly from the game ?
Unfortunately, the Gallery is not accessible in-game. It is however accessible as part of the services of the GR Network, which incorporate GunSmith mobile & web. You can then consult the gallery and replicate that weapon by hand from the mobile & web GR Network.

How can I import a gun from the Gallery into the game ?
To import a weapon, you have several options :
    • Each gun displays the “gun recipe” that was used to create it. As a result, you can rebuild by hand the weapon directly in the game as long as you have the list of attachments used for that weapon
    • A functionality to open a given gun in the GR Network app (on mobile & tablets) or on the GR Network website (on desktop) will be implemented post launch. If you have sufficient credits and have unlocked that weapon in your MP progress, you will be able in one-click to sync it to your GRFS game.
