    Your preferred multiplayer experience

I want an extension and evolution of PT/CT's Spies vs Mercenaries. A classic mode like that needs to grace this current generation of gaming...or the next. Whenever they decide to release the next game.

Though if they do go with SvS, I just hope they don't skimp out like they did in Conviction. Co-op with a scoreboard and friendly fire enabled does not a proper multiplayer mode make, Ubisoft!
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I can remember reading topics of people speculating about SvM DLC for Conviction. They said that they knew Ubisoft would pull this out because Beland said he couldn't talk about it and that Conviction would be awesome when they did release it.

Well, we can't fault them for lying because SvM in SCC was gone since 2005 and they didn't deceive us although it would have been nice for them to gently dispel those rumors with a public statement.

I don't know if I want SvM anymore. What I mean is that you can't just slap on random game modes and call it multiplayer. The MP modes have to feel like an extension of the game, the only difference would be that you have humans playing the role of NPC's. That's why Version 1 DA's SvS mode failed, not because it had a ton of bugs, lots of lag, or even annoying server crashes. The only problem was that it didn't feel like the rest of the game (did the Xbox Original version even have MP?) Just like how Conviction didn't feel like Splinter Cell. MP has to fit with the rest of the game and with Conviction... I don't think SvM is gonna come back. Pretty much what I'm saying is that I can't see myself playing SvM in SC6.
There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire to become a great writer.

When asked to define "great" he said, "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!"

He now works for Microsoft, writing error messages.

I actually preferred that SvM didn't feel like the single player because then it felt like I had payed one twice for 2 separate games. It was like 2 different styles of stealth put into one stealth game. It was honestly amazing and the perfect formula for all Splinter Cell titles.

I can't give a fully informed vote on this one, sorry.
I felt detached from SC during SvM play, it felt like a hybrid of SC and Rainbow and I really disliked playing the Mercs. I also thought the player count was too small. So, I basically didn't give the MP a fair shake in PT and CT. Then I didn't really like DA's SP at the time and bypassed the title completely. I heard that the MP was good in it but I never played it for myself.
I like SCC's SvS. It's true that it is a lot like Hunter with Friendly Fire turned On. I tend to get a tad bored of just trying to eliminate the other player and find more fun in trying to compete for kills, seeing who can rack up the most in the time limit. I DO prefer overall, how the Spy plays in SCC as compared to previous titles and would seriously enjoy a PvP mode that accomadated the new control scheme. I really don't want to see a new breed of character created for the MP, that we are then, often times, forced into playing as.
Instead I would like pack out customization that afforded the player the ability to make their Spy specialize in a variety of approaches ranging from Deep Stealth Operator to Full On Assault. Still using the same control schemes but inhibiting abilities dependant on the pack out choices (i.e; lots of armour and heavier weapons = speed/climbing/CQC inhibition, and no armor with light weapons = full CQC/climbing/movement but low damage absorption, and poor shoot out strength). Gadgets would be restricted to certain ends of the approach spectrum still along with weapon types, and M&E would need to be adapted if it was to be included at all....probably safer to leave it out of MP altogether.
I believe this approach would afford the SvM that the SC MP community truly seems to favor (and lament the absence of) while maintaining the integrity of SCC's significant upgrades to character control schemes and fluidity.
Anyway, I will vote for SvS because, well because it was the only one that I could actually stand to play...excluding the one I didn't bother to test in DA.

I've never really gotten into any of the 'versus' multiplayers for any of the SC games so my opinion on the matter is probably not that valid.
However, just to share my observation (and get my 2 cents worth) I think Chaos Theory versus was undoubtedly the best standalone MP, whereas Conviction and Double Agent (Xbox/PS2) had a much more familiar versus, but alas just not as good.

I've never been a fan of putting versus in SC. The whole idea behind the games is to be a super secret agent who's totally lethal but also invisible. It's about solving situations based on creative AI routines and challenging L&S scenarios. The classic spy versus merc MP captured this the best, but still only half for each, I.E. the super dangerous one (the merc) literally had to be a goon so someone else could be a super sneaky one (a spy). And (yes, there's more) if Pandora Tomorrow is any tell (TV station into) the spies were all good and the mercs die anyway. Go figure.
But that's OT, I'm just rambling here.
I will simply refrain from voting on the matter.

    @Jazz
I agree with your view that MP doesn't really need to be in SC. It has to be a very tricky task to fit it into the true concept and still provide exciting and relevant gameplay. It seems though, that most games almost HAVE to have an MP these days for the title to get a sales edge.
I personally think that giving SvM fans their mode back wouldn't be a detractor for me, in fact it may be beneficial to get that fan base back on board. I'm happy to devote all my time to the co-op aspect anyway.
A competetive MP based on mission objectives and completion sounds appealing though, somewhat like GRFS Conflict, where eliminating the opponent isn't the main focus of the mode perhaps.

    @ Sage:
Yeah, totally include SvM, but just don't try and make it relevant. Make it good, and please the folks that really liked it. Don't let it mess with (or be messed with by) the rest of the game.
COOP for me tromps VS on every front every time. Just my preference I suppose.

Nah Jazz I'm in the same boat as you. Never played SvM honestly, and didn't particularly care for the SCC VS either. I'm sure it could be done but its down there a ways on my list of priorities.
