    Groove Thang

More groove questions/reflections. I know a lot of people say that the Early Groove Bonus is better somehow, and I'd never seen one to confirm. But today I got some and noticed they seem to give the same points as any other Groove Bonus. The both come up saying "+250"--has anyone seen any different? Maybe a groove bonus is a groove bonus, whether early or not.

I never understood why you're rewarded for being early? Isn't that a bad thing?

I've never seen any different score for groove bonus - early and late =250. On time = unspecified
There is a huge variety for slides etc. The one that springs to mind as a good example is the little slide in the first passage of Tighten up which can be anything from 200ish to 500ish for what feels to me to be pretty much identical attempts. That first riff for me can be anything from 7500 to just over 8200 which is a 10% difference in about 30 relatively simple notes.

Regular Groove Bonus is +250 also. @Aneurysm350--yeah, I'd expect the early and late bonuses to be less.

Out of cursioity, does it actually say "on time groove" or something like that? Why is that I cannot rememebr ever seeing anything other than early and late?

On-time is "Groove Bonus". Early and late are "Early Groove" or "Late Groove".

I know I tried the playin' early and that just did not cut it for me. I didn't see my score jump much, and it was probably because I didn't like playin' ahead of the song.

I've decided to go all sour grapes on the early groove bonus, and just be happy getting the highest score I can without playin' weirdly.
I heard they's a man there pays folks money to sing into a can.

My guess is because people rarely play "on the beat." Usually it's slightly ahead or slightly behind, depending on the type of song. Slightly ahead is more exciting, slightly behind is dramatic and bluesy.

I've always thought this is what the grove bonuses are representing.

Apolgoies for quoting myself, but it didn't take long for me to realise the answer. I suck at keeping time

Since all three groove bonuses give the same +250 message, I'm curious why the perception is that early is better. Given I'm usually consulting a roadmap to figure out which fret I need to hit, I'm rarely early, but I saw a few when I did an MM set, and they were the same points as the in-time groove bonus.
