I haven't looked them up, but I thought that it was in the late 90's or something that the Dixie Chicks picked up their current lead singer. Didn't they let their first singer go right before they made it big? I thought I remember seeing a special on them on CMT a while ago, and the old singer married a guy and wanted to start her family and left the band. Her husband won the lottery, and she got rich while the band was still struggling. Then they got album sales and surpassed her. I might be wrong, cause I watch a lot of those crazy specials, and my brain is old.

ZumaRocks, I was stationed @ 32nd Street at the time, and I doubt I have my stubs, and I can't tell you who opened for them, just that it was a freaking party!

Cool, I was Navy from 76 to 82, all but a year of it in San Diego. My ship was in the Long Beach shipyards for a year. Now it's a museum up by Seattle. Spent most of my tenure as an instructor at the ASW base on Pt. Loma.

Well, they lasted longer than I thought they would, but, guess they just can't get their collective excrement together.

Van Halen have abruptly postponed all tour dates after their June 26th show in New Orleans with no explanation.

The band yanked more than 30 long-planned dates, including shows in Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Salt Lake City and El Paso. Local promoters United Concerts and AEG issued statements regarding some postponed shows to local media, including the Salt Lake Tribune and Las Cruces Sun-News, but no details have been offered yet about rescheduled dates or refunds.

Nearly all of the tour is promoted by Live Nation, whose reps wouldn't comment. The band's rep also had no comment. A source with knowledge of the tour tells Rolling Stone that Van Halen's members "hate each other." Adds the source, "The band is arguing like mad. They are fighting."

Nice. I worked at a comic book store right by there in the late 80's

You guys keep mentioning the Dixie Chicks and you're going to "insult" the country haters among us!

I was pretty much done with VH when Diamond Dave left/was fired/whatever. When EVH kicked Michael Anthony to the curb and gave the bass playing job to his son, I wrote them all off. I have a loyalty "thing." Wolfgang should have started his own band or something. I get that he's EVH's son and all, but you don't just put somebody out to pasture who has played with you for 20+ years. Especially when, like EVH, you're pretty close to the pasture gate yourself. EVH could be the greatest guitar player in the world (I don't think he's even close, but for argument's sake. . . ) but he seems more like one of the world's greatest D-bags to me and he'll get none of my money.

Of course, I feel the same way about the Dixie Chicks, too. But, that has nothing to do with them playing country music.

I know its a sin, but I didn't really like VH until Sammy showed up. Never liked Roth's singing/style at all. Loved them with Sammy. Also firmly planted in the Michael Anthony camp. He harmonized great and you just can't replace him, ultimate **** move. I saw an interview with Michael after one of the first shows after they booted Michael out, both Michael and the interviewer (Eddie Trunk I think) thought they were playing dubs of Michael's harmonizing over the show. Guess they can't completely get rid of him.

Maybe Wofgang should go back to his mom and see about getting on her weight loss program. Oops, that was mean. http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/18/showbi...ned/index.html
