Recon - Snipers - Counter Sniping.

There have been many people calling me a glitch abuser or a noob when I am on the stairs, using it as cover. I ask, how is it a glitch and they say I can not be shot there. They are wrong. This is more of a tip than a strategy. If you see someone on the stairs, using it as cover, and you are either the same height, or higher, all you need to do to shoot them....Is stand up. Stand up, scope and pray to god they don't shoot you first. Happy Hunting.

No.. You can't shoot them there. The reason why is because we can only see the very top of your head, and that part of your head is "shielded" by an invisible collision model that hovers just above the ground.

Basically there's a 1-3in thick invisible "layer" on the ground and stairs that you can't shoot through. Your head is behind this, and thus it's impossible to hit you.

Same goes for when you're prone and only sticking your elbow out past cover, we usually can't hit your elbow because there's some invisible collision-model sticking out past the visible cover.

Then I must be a hacker, because I shot people there all the time.

At any rate, this is a known issue, and the devs are implementing a fix in the coming patches - or so I've been told. The issue is that your field of view is elevated when you are scoped in (while prone on an incline) - while your body is safely below the stair lip. In essence, you're on your belly, laying prone and somehow holding the gun above your head - ie: your gun is on the top stair, while the upper most point of your body is on the 2nd stair - logically if you're looking through the scope, this is impossible - but through the magic of video games, it becomes possible. Apparently they're going to fix this by lowering the visual point of the gun or something...

At any rate, we've been asked not to exploit this glitch - and to ensure that the scope is entirely above the top stair (ie: not partially) - which should fix the issue somewhat.

I'm not really familiar with the issue cortexian mentioned, but I believe a good place to spot the 'invisible barrier' he's talking about is on moscow city C point. go prone and you can clearly see the gridded capture texture floats above the structure of the bridge. I believe this floating texture is what often makes it impossible to shoot from one side of the bridge to the other while prone at either end.

Cor is talking about the lip of the incline providing a invisible wall to hide behind. So while your head is poking out it still can not be hit by bullets. Avoid using prone on inclines, it's a very cheap tactic atm, my best example is on Metro, I think the cap area on D was increased because of people just camping on the stairs not allowing anyone to walk down either hall without being sniped from a position that is impossible to fight back from.

Think about it this way, lay on a incline, put your arm straight out at the top of the incline, see how much of your body is exposed? If a sniper where to shoot from a incline, then their whole upper body is visible. The shooters shoulder would be at the top of the incline laying flat on the floor with his sniper laying in front of him. Currently in GRO if on a incline you can barely see the top of the persons head, how does that make since? They are shooting a gun that's at least 4 ft long, how do you shoot a big gun when your shoulders are below the incline?
