Wow. When Creep, maker of the infamous pentagun pwnage reel, agrees that the weapon is OP, I think that's an open-shut case :P

I'm actually a tad offended here. I used the pentagun from level 5-7(so like 15-20 matches maybe?) , realized it was way too powerful, and went back to the mk5 and then the m96 until I could afford the Benelli. I have never made a single video highlighting the pentagun, nor would I. My weapon proficiency on the penta is the same as the one on my Benelli, and I have spent WAY more time rocking the Benelli, if that says anything about the nature of the UberShotty.

You basically just called me a noob, and an abuser of an OP weapon. Not trying to be a jerk, but I have already been insulted on these forums today, and I'm not feeling really friendly at the moment.

I'm glad you agree it's a cheap weapon, and I hope it gets the rework/removal it needs. I don't glitch, I don't camp ten feet outside the spawn, and I DON'T USE THE PENTAGUN. Ask some of the other players, and the guys I run with, when they last saw me with a pentagun.


Take a look at the #2 spot for specialist shotgun kills, guess what he's using? Yeah, I'm #5, and I did most of those sans FlakCannon.

The thing I find odd is that there is the pattern of Pump -> Semi -> Pump -> Semi for the unlock stages. Perhaps it should be such that you don't get a semi-auto until a bit later, as having a higher fire rate is very forgiving on missed and grazed shots. On the other hand, you _can_ give newbies a forgiving weapon if and only if the higher-level/less forgiving weapons outperform them.

That said, the Pentagun seems to have a DPS on par with the Model 10a (a level 25 gun!) and the M1014C (Level 15! And the M1014C has its own failings as well!). Furthermore, 54 accuracy really hasn't felt too different from the PM5's 56, though the M500SV's 58 felt somewhat different that I chose to stay with it before I could get the PM5, meaning the pellet spread doesn't drop the number of pellets hit by too much. Dropping the accuracy further would turn it into a lottery gun, which is bad for those on both ends of the barrel. In that case, I'd suggest a tightening of the pellets of the other pump-action shotguns.

I wouldn't advocate dropping it into a black hole, but if it is erased from cyberspace, we need something to replace it.

The Pentagun gives shotguns a bad wrap. That's mostly why everyone cries foul on them. But it doesn't matter, they already nerfed the shotguns into oblivion, so whatever.

Oh, my! Absolutely not even in the slightest whatsoever, sir! You've severely misread my tone. 'Twas truly a light-hearted statement giving you props for a solid video (which, now that I think about it, that video may have been from Superhero, lol), and stating that if someone who obviously has vast experience with how to handle not only the weapon type, but that particular gun, agrees that it's OP, then it's probably true.

I was heated, I may have overreacted. After looking at the vids I uploaded, there IS some pentagun baddiness there, I'll have to capture and upload some that feature balanced weapons instead.

I'm not mad at you, Chem, it's been a long week, and I'm in serious need of some downtime. I shouldn't post my stress, that's on me. Let's get back on topic, this is a relevant thread, and I'd like to hear more people's opinions on this subject. Sorry to hijack your thread, Jace.

The Pentagun has a 6-rounds revolving cylinder not a 5-rounds cylinder like it is in the game right now! FIX IT NAO!

I have no problems with people using it. I personally think its a crappy shotgun. The only thing it has going for it is it's semi instead of pump. I used it for 6 or 7 games and hated it. I would never kill anyone. I then bought a PM5 SP and just mowed down everyone. I was killing creep earlier today with it. He was too busy being angry at my friend who has a pentagun to even notice that I was doing most of the shotgun killing. My friend even hates it, he only used it that round because he didn't have his other shotgun unequipped from his specialist. I think people are crying too much about it and shotguns in general. I find all the shotguns are pretty fair and have no problem going up against a shotgunner with a AR or pistol at that. People need to adapt their play style to counter them.

Also Creep said earlier today that the pentagun was 50% more deadly then the other shotguns. I wanna know where you got these numbers from. Did you do some statistics? Where are the charts and graphs to prove this. I wanna see.

I own all but two of the shotguns ingame. Most of them are very well balanced, IMO. The issue is, the penta's stats are as good or better than the level 15 m1014, and the spread is much less, effectively giving it much more range. Why should a gun at that level do more DPS than one ten levels above it at the same RoF, with better range? Answer: it shouldn't. Hence, in need of balancing.

At level 15, most folks are wearing better armor, and can withstand a hit from the penta, at level 5, they cannot. Basically, every gun trades one thing for another. With the penta, there is no trade off. The m1014 trades the power of the pumps for semi auto. The ns2000 trades RoF for pointblank stopping power. Even the pm5 trades RoF for power. The penta has all of it, with no downside, and costs 3k rp in it's most expensive form.

The reason I didn't have any issue with you? You weren't whispering insults at me while exploiting an unbalanced gun. I use my shotguns, and enjoy them quite a bit. Regardless of if it doesn't suit your tastes, it IS more powerful than it should be for a level 5 weapon. I'd say the community agrees with me, look at the poll numbers.
