@Dieinthedark: It's fine, I know that it's odd that we both have near identical usernames. But I can honestly say (if I was in the same room as you then I'd be looking straight into your eyes) that I did NOT copy anyone's work and post it as my own.

Yes, it's me and I know all of you are just dying to ask me questions like "why did you do it", "why are you such an a-hole", or even simply "why?"
Well lets begin with "why did you do it?" Contrary to what some of you think I didn't do it because I'm an attention ***** or a "pig" as you claim this forums Sammyfun (what a coincidence, isn't it?) to be. Did I do it because this was some diabolical plot to target certain members and siphon off there intellectual creations to start ww3? I think not, even I couldn't do that, no. Perhaps I under estimated the attentiveness of this forum and its members. Maybe I won't tell you exactly why I did it, heck, it's likely that you'll never know my true motives, all that matters is that I'm prepared to fix all that I've done.
Yes, I realize the "error of my ways" and I'm ready to correct them, but only if you (I mean all of you) are prepared to drop all charges on this forum and to the wiki support staff.
Now that I made myself clear let me ask a few questions of my own...
-How did you find out? For the longest time I've been lurking around watching as this forum was oblivious to the plagiarism I had done. Yet, it wasn't until now, about 2 months after I had posted that infernal page that you guys managed to catch on that something was a drift, and that someone had been copying the work of several members did you finally decide to do something about it.
-Sammy, where did you get that username? I had been using "sammyfun1" for five years. Yet, here you are with a name that's eerily similar. So I must ask, where did you get that name? Perhaps you are me and have simply created another account to divert attention away from yourself... *Chuckles* Yes this is interesting...
As I said I'm prepared to fix what I have done (I.E. remove everything copied). But, only if you expunge all charges.

So I'm guessing you did this because (speculation) one time someone stole an idea from you, possibly a big, well drawn out idea(s) and the same thing happened to you. How close am I? Perhaps you just were bored and had nothing better to do...
As far as charges, this isn't court. I (we) are p.o.ed at you for not giving credit but its an internet forum. We're not going to come charging out of the screen pointing at you, we're just upset that you would take credit for what isn't yours.

First question: Well I did find this stuff at the wiki-site of Splinter Cell pretty early but I didn't thought that these things were put on the site without any permission of the original authors. I think it's a coincidence that one of the authors found this stuff after 2 months. In this case Jazz found it after two months after some member was hinting him at that site as far as I know.
Other then that, we should keep this discussion in a polite manner. We should be happy that he came up here to say that he was the one who put it on to the Splinter Cell Wiki. That's something which doesn't a lot.
I am going to weight in here. If sfun1 says he did it I am assuming he did do it. However, it's very unlikely that culprits just give up and reveal themselves. And it's very fishy that two people have similar names that seem to have a "connection" with one another. I suggest more investigation into it. And I offered a solution that is worth considering to a fellow ubi user and I think he is finishing his post any minute now with it so I don't think I need to say it here. And yes, you can actually get sued for stealing ideas, even if it is not published or copyrighted. The evidence that identifies who ever wrote it first is based on the date that it is posted on the website. So whoever wrote it second or copy it can be sued. I have so experience in this, well, I was told this by another fellow writer. I know ideas can get stolen especially on the internet, so I shut off my blog a while back last year, unless, someone did stole my ideas from the blog, you better remove it. If you, sfun1, is the culprit, I suggest you remove all the postings and learn your lesson. As for the original writers, well, I don't know what you'll do but if you are going to sue him, well sfun1, you better hire a **** good lawyer (figuratively speaking) . I am not trying to hold down anyone. I just want this to be resolved peacefully without it being a big commotion and police and lawyers are involved. So this is my comment.

So, let me get this straight. You have our property plastered across multiple wiki pages for nearing two months and only now that we've discovered this do you want to come clean and right your wrongs? What happened... ya balls drop off?
And now you're asking us (in manner of speaking) to tell you it's fine that you stole our property and we're totally cool with it, to which you will reply, "oh wonderful, I'll give it back now." Well, with all do respect Ace, the entirety of our interaction thus far has only proven that you are a dishonest looser. No Deal.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. This ain't no courtroom. There are no 'charges' and you're not going to jail. (Well, that depends on what you make of the above post) However, if you really do realize the error of your ways and want to correct them, then all you need do is to just 'correct them' and then let us know. Simple as. No hard feelings, no more problem.
So, assuming you're cool with this new enlightened way of thinking, allow me to explain, in detail, how it's going to work. 1st, you're going to remove everything you've taken from this forum (and anywhere else for that matter) from every single wiki, forum, or other database and website that you've put them on. Then you're going to apologize to every user who you've stolen from and then we're all gonna go forwards without a backward glance. You're gonna feel better, I'm not gonna have to get the other wikia to ban your IP. And you never know, one day in the future (somewhere) you're gonna be able to post on this forum without thinking "I was that guy..."

What you took from Die is between you and him, respectively, what you took from me is between you and me. I'm not unreasonable but frankly I find what your asking insulting. Fix what you've done, or I'll fix it for you. And once I've fixed it you won't be able too, and I assure you that's gonna mean a hell of a lot more to you then it will to me.

As Sam2000 was saying, he suggested a neat trick with tracking down IP addresses. Wiki displays the IP address of members, so if this Sammyfun1 has more then one username on this forum, he will be found.

If that's the case that you think sfun1 did it, then I take your word. As bystander, I can't suggest anything else and can only follow your word on who you think the culprit is. And yes, I think IP address is a great way to track users however, I guess this should be done in confidence with the wiki site admin, I doubt it can be exposed freely to other people, meaning, the user of the IP address is publicly displayed to everyone. So I suggest Jazz and Dieinthedark and anyone else that is the victim, take it up with the site admins of the wiki site and the forum admins of this site to match the IP addresses. However, if the admins do not allow this, then I don't know any other way to track users. I doubt sfun1 or culprits are likely to use multiple IP addresses to steal ideas and post them. All is done in the comfort of their homes. Again, this is something that can be considered with taking up with the admins and moderators, but if they disallow you to do such thing, then I suggest doing something else, that is if you are so set on finding out who the real culprit is even if sfun1 admit himself. Otherwise, just deal with sfun1.

sfun1, I suggest you take a hard look on what you did. Plagiarism is a serious issue not just for academics. Is it so hard just to ask for permission? And what is your true motive, why aren't you revealing? If you are confessing, which seems like you aren't, why aren't you telling us why? What is this that you are doing? Are you scared? Are you afraid of the consequences? Just come clean with them (privately) or with us (publicly). Any psychological problems you're having? If you really want to right the wrong, you better tell us why or else you're not righting your wrong. The first step to righting wrongs is admitting what you have done and explaining to the injured parties why you did it. Take this as a lessons, it's people that do wrongs need some teachings to prevent them from doing these things again. So you better deal with this properly and really apologize.
As always, trying to keep this as civil as possible, despite angers (yes I have some angers because I can feel for the victims). It's nice enough that Jazz is letting you go easy but some other members are not so you better think about what you did.
EDIT: Don't know if you guys caught this and I am too late but at least it helps to bring it forward. I found sammyfun's profile rather odd, especially his vistor's post, the one where he posted a comment by himself. And his interaction with his "friend". And it's funny how sfun1 just recently "joined" and had one post. My suspicion is that sammyfun and sfun1 is one and the same. And he doesn't want to be caught with his real profile, sammyfun1. It is odd how that sfun1 just joins this month and reveal himself. Something is wrong here. What is this "guy" trying to show us?
This is indeed creepy, like shobit said, a bad show. I say this is some creepy conspiracy. So weird.

Regarding the IP adresses...shouldn't the Mods have done it in the first place? I aint no Sherlock but the first thing I would've done is check Sammyfun's and his namesake's IP add. I thought the Forum Mods had that power..since they can ban IPs and all.
Anyway..I hope y'all get your stuff back.
