I just ranked up to level 12 and I unlocked a whole bunch of things that I really just don't know what they are or what they do for that matter..any help?

Those are the slot inserts for the Mk 2 for blitz/heat. There is a slot in the MK2 version of the Device's.

They are upgrades for your Mk 2 class abilities. If you go to the store and click on the Mk 2 abilities you can then click on the upgrade slot and read what they all do.
