    Client-side hit detection....

Why? Why did you plague what would have been an amazing game with the worst model? Brazilians or people in America with poor net lag and play better because of it. With their packet loss, half of my shots don't register. Can't say how many times I shot someone in the head only for a *ping!* and spark, but no damage (no I did not shoot a shield, I shot the head in the center). Also, some people aware of client-side hit detection do exploit it. On BF3, people play on foreign servers all the time to increase their ping and get better scores. I fear with only US and EU servers, I don't think people will exactly exploit it, but foreigners will play, will lag, and will have much more fun. This is an alright game, but would have been so much better if laggers actually experienced lag, as in stuttering, low fps, possible disconnecting, etc. I'm sure it's probably too late though. Nothing is going to change except the ui and maybe 2 or 3 mechanics.

Not to sound like an ungrateful ****** since I do love this game, main reason could have been the cost effectiveness of going client-side. Could also be that Ubi was foolish enough to think people would find other "local" players and so ping wouldnt be a glaring issue in this age of super powered series of tubes.

Get used to this with the UE3 engine and what not and trends turning client side hit detection is the way of the future. Adapt or stick with the older games. Pretty much every FPS that has come out as of now are all client side hit detection. They just possibly need to tweak their lag compensation code if they have any.

There is nothing wrong with the net-code of the UE3 engine. Lag compensation is a terrible concept that must be burned in a deep pit along with the pentagun. Found it: Article from a guy who writes net code of UE3 for Tripwire on RO2 HoS.

lol one i read this post wrong its early for my thinking this was about server side hit detection MY DURP!!!! and lag comp works wonders if correctly done. And wasnt saying nothing was wrong with code of the UE3 was stating its the new big dog of engines. Havent had my coffee yet please forgive my stupidity there.

Edit: In my defense i actually came to erase that post cuz after i stepped away i had a durp wth moment you stupid fool. But you already posted a reply so ill leave my stupidity there lol.

Also on lag comp i hate to mention other games. But if you have played BL:R they did a good job on the lag comp code they just sorta over worked it though now its who presses fire first sadly its a game of chance and dueling. But it fits the game style of pure run and gun.

I just wish laggers would actually lag. I play Heroes of Newerth, and although it's not an FPS, it has the type of compensation I like. If someone has a poor connection, he/she will disconnect or stand around auto attacking creeps. If I recall, DoD and CS worked that way as well. If someone lagged, they lagged. If someone has a 300 ping, I want that person to stutter, stand in place, walk a random path, not shoot, etc. Unfortunately, compensation has plagued BF3 as well. People die around corners all the time because a higher ping player still saw the other player in the open for an extra split second. People were posting battlelogs from foreign servers, and some of them went like 80/1 just because of the higher ping. Nobody's shots register on them with the packet loss.

A PS3 was $600 on release. My rig was like $470. Even the lowest settings on BF3 PC are better than stock settings on a PS3 with even the largest tv. I can play it on all high in 1920x1080 with HDMI.

Ya but i got one issue there i don't favor desktops anymore i am constanly moving or going somewhere. So making a laptop a powerhouse is almost nil and none without 4 trillion dollars. Let alone if ya can find a barebones luggable case more then 17in screen. and find all the parts to stuff in it lol. If you can make me a luggable that will play BF3 on high hell even ultra for under 600 bucks ill buy it lol

Build a desktop, but use a suitcase as a case. Done. You could even hang your monitor on one side.
