    Question Threaded vs linear

I was wondering what ppl around think about the thread forum vs the linear forum. Here one good but too simple : http://mylittleforum.net/forum/
There is the one of the Internet Movie database too : http://www.imdb.com/boards/

I can't believe ppl prefer linear to the threaded forum. I've ask the question on an other forum and they almost said I'm crazy to prefer the threaded forum.
I can admit the linear forum is sometimes good when only a few post have been posted to the thread. Other than that, I think it is impossible to follow a conversation in a linear thread. The option for a thread view on the ubi forum is not so good.

I absolutely fracking HATE the threaded view at IMDb.
I don't want to click 20+ links to read a conversation.
It's extremely annoying and totally unnecessary.
    My preference?
I view it in Nest format.
It's a blend of threaded and linear/flat view so you can see the messages, but they're also indented underneath the message in which the user replied to.

Clicking a link for each new message is like having to use the brake each stop I have to do in a car. So I am not agree with you, for what it give over the linear, threaded view clicking is worth it.

Nest view? Interesting, you have a example of a forum like this?

This is some random thread from IMDb as an example.
    Note the indentation:

Perhaps, but if I had to stop every 30 seconds while driving down the highway, I would stop driving.

Yes but is it a coincidence if there is no stop on the high way?

This is better than linear but because I can see a problem to a lot of reply over reply over reply, I still prefer the threaded.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the situation.

I prefer linear on a forum but the nest style that Pixxel mentioned if I'm reading comments on a site.
