That gives me another idea to balance SMG-Cloak Recon players:

• Make Cloak work less effectively against other Recon players (let them see other Cloaked Recon's easier than the other classes). Then maybe the Recon's watching flanks with sniper rifles could actually do their jobs!

I don't think that's a good idea...I get called a hacker enough when I shoot invisible people from a distance.

What about overpowered shotguns with ridiculous range?What about the accuracy of MK16 at full burst? what about the fact that you actually have skills to use as countermeasure when being shot (like blitz,heat).Stop crying all the time about recon class being imba cause you know well that its not the case.Imo smgs mechanics and rof are fine.

Have you ever seen a shotgun in real life? They can shoot pretty far. Compared to the sizes of the maps/fighting area, they are perfectly fine, except that one map (that's like on a boat or something...It's got some pipes that you can slide under...It's an attack & Defend map, someone get me the name XD), for their, the shotguns are slightly over powered. But hey, so is a good sniper, you going to nerf them too?

I only just started leveling up an SMG Recon yesterday but it seems they are not OP, to me, yet. I'm only up to the MP5SD-N2 so far, and that gun takes a full 2 seconds to kill someone and is inaccurate for complete kills at any range but up close. The MP5SD-N2 also seems to jam up a bit, as the firing rhythm seems interrupted at times. I can't wait to get rid of it. The MP7 seems to kill me a lot more often. Are you speaking about a particular gun?

SMGs should be able to out kill LMGs at close range.

A simple solution to the cloak, if it is a problem, is to treat it like the rest of the special abilities, in that you can only use it at full charge. As it is now, you can quick-cloak quite often.

I dislike that idea, because if you do that then you also need to do that with oracle to "balance" it. I get pissed off enough when people just waste their oracle because they don't know how to turn it off.

They could just make it so you need more of an initial charge to activate cloak.

MP7 could use a light nerf, cloak is fine. MK16 could use a light nerf, pentagun really doesn't bother me (I think it sucks honestly). I actually think the weapon balance is pretty good in the game over all, especially for a closed beta. I judge this simply on the fact that everyone *****es frequently about every weapon they haven't used/don't use. Shotgun users think snipers are OP. Snipers think the people flanking them with shotguns/lmgs are OP, SMGs think the MK16 is OP. Honestly overall balance is pretty good in my opinion.

This is funny. If only you all could have seen the first inception of cloak/camouflage. It had no activation cost, made you completely invisible, lasted for about a minute, and getting shot in cloak did not expose you nor did it drain the ability at all.

When I look back on those fond memories of wiping the map clean with my recon and being a royal menace to pretty much anyone who had access to the game back in those days, I find it pretty funny when people talk about nerfing cloak still. Having played a Recon for every phase up to last phase, I can say with confidence that I feel like the Recon's camouflage ability is finally in a balanced state. Considering that it's extremely fragile until you get the Combat Cloak upgrade, and it relies heavily on your opponents' collective inability to pick out the shimmer that becomes more and more obvious with time played, it's pretty balanced. It preys on a certain lack of being observant, but a well-trained eye will put an end to many a Recon shenanigan these days. A year ago that wasn't the case at all :P

It sucks to be killed without knowing an opponent was there. It's the primary reason people hate snipers. It feels "cheap" and people generally prefer a stand-up fight to subversive tactics and long-ranged attacks.

Any class, when played well, will make you want to snap your keyboard in half over your own face. Fragacide on his Recon, Taco on his Assault, and Tommyboy7 on his Specialist have all, on separate occasions, made me want to stand up, walk into the other room, and play Raving Rabbids on the Wii because at least that's one game they can't grief me in

This statement right here reminds me to bring something up... All the other upgrades seem to pail in comparison to the usefulness of the Cloak upgrade. Unfortunately I haven't been able to use them, but every Recon I've talked to that uses Cloak pretty much uses the Combat Cloak.

Buff the other upgrades?

On full auto the MK16 is all over the place. It bucks an extreme amount and is very very difficult to keep on a target past about the 20-25 foot range. If you're inside 10 feet, granted you're going to eat a lot of lead, but it is nearly useless on full auto past that point unless your target is standing still.

Semi Auto is different as it doesn't jump around nearly as much (but also doesn't fire fast enough to keep up with the damage of an smg or lmg at the proper range.

To be fair, I'm not suggesting any nerfs to any weapons here, I just take exception to your above statement as I know it to be fabricated and completely untrue.

I find that burst on mk16 is very powerful so long as it's not a close range fight (though I've won a lot of those with burst). I haven't used semi auto for awhile but it fires as fast as you can click unless you are just holding down fire ****on (something that should be taken out i think)

Cloak needs just a tad more "shimmer". It's very very very annoying when I see a recon cloak while I'm Blitzing. I hit him, then after disengaging the Blitz I can not find his invisible body on the ground because blitz knocked the recon to some wonky place. I honestly think Blitz should turn off active class ability. Not drain their power like Blackout but just turn off a active ability. I don't have a huge problem with cloak besides the fact that the person is just too invisible even after knocking them over with Blitz It feels like I'm looking for a needle in a hay stack laying on the ground. When I'm less then a meter from a cloaked recon I should be able to see the distortion they are creating very simply.

IDK how I feel about some of the long range SMG shots that have killed me, but I can live with SMG they don't bug me that much.
