That date should be correct. They confirmed that pack and the hits pack from last week as being released in April, and since the 17th will be the last April release.....
I honestly haven't seen an announcement of Judas Priest to be on DLC. Where can I read it?

It originally leaked when the two April DLC packs were briefly visible on one of the console networks. Rocksmith-Matt then confirmed the information for us and said they were April releases. Now there's an announcement on Facebook, as well.

Regardless I'll likely buy all three to show the love.
I would have to be one of those disagreeing. From their inception and up to and including that time (1990), Judas Priest was on the cutting edge of what was considered "hard core". They began as hard rock, but were solidly considered "heavy metal" through the 80s, even though their post "Screaming for Vengeance" releases (like some of the later 80s releases from Ozzy and Iron Maiden) were more of a groping around to establish footing in the evolving genre of metal. Painkiller (both the album and the song) was the game changer. It was the first release from Judas Priest since 1982 that was both fresh AND 100% solid. 1990 gave us 3 true metal anthems: Holy Wars/Punishment Due, War Ensemble, and Painkiller. It was the last year that the "real players" of heavy metal (uniformly) acted as such.

Painkiller is a triumph of the band to remain not just relevant, but Dominant, and it is an amazing, high energy song for guitar lovers.

EDIT: I almost forgot the second most important point of adding "Painkiller". Although this game has easily been the best thing to happen in the bridging of guitar playing and videogames (warts and all) to date, it is woefully ignorant of the Heavy Metal genre. The original game set list has Blues, Classic Rock, New Wave, Pop, Prog Rock, Grunge, Alternative, and whatever the kids are calling some of the latter-day stuff. The roots of heavy metal have been sown as early as the mid 1960s and uncontestedly in the late 1960s. It pervaded the 1970s, Dominated the 1980s, waned in the 1990s, and nauseated in the 2000s (yuck, numetal). Yet for all its presence in the guitar world THERE IS NOT A SINGLE SONG ON THE GAME that is heavy metal. I would argue there is no hard rock either, both of which amounting to a cardinal sin.

Even giving the unreleased JP 3 pack credit, that leaves a total of 6 songs from 2 artists. Painkiller is a long-overdue concession that should be followed with no fewer than 20-50 hard rock/heavy metal songs of the genre (and I am not kidding about this in the least).

I think throwing a metric but.tload of any kind of metal at RS would seriously limit its current broad appeal, and be a sales disaster. But my guess is Ubi did some pretty careful market research on what kinds of DLC would sell.

I will agree with you for this reason:

there are a LOT of Priest songs that have two distinct guitar parts (for two arrangements), where one arrangement would be a great fit for advanced players (Glen Tipton part with a complex solo) and another guitar part for intermediate players (KK Downing part with no solo, or an easier one). There were even radio hits that fit this format like "Some Heads are Gonna Roll" and "You Got Another Thing Comin". Throw in a "Green Manalishi" or "Beyond the Realms of Death" and we are all set with three songs to satisfy intermediate to advanced players.

While I appreciate the challenge that will come with learning the Painkiller solo, it will be WAY beyond most player's skill levels.

I would think Slither by Velvet Revolver's gotta be considered hard rock.
