In this thread, we will list our favorite guns, along with any modifications, and even tips on using one (if you care to help folks be better with YOUR gun).


My favorite gun so far is hands down the Benelli m1014. The model I use is the SV variant, with a vertical foregrip, an IR designator, a closed tube 1x optic (not my first choice, but I got one from a loot box, and couldn't afford the one I wanted when I bought the gun), and the big can ( the suppressor).

Upsides include; good handling for a gun so long, and good, close grouping at medium range. One hits are quite possible with this gun, if you aim well. The 1x closed tube is a strange choice, but it works very well IMO.

Downsides are; panic at close range will kill you. The gun demands you put your aim dead center if you want to do more than just wing the opponent. The difference between a one hit kill, and dying is about 4 inches. It's also like 5 1/2 feet long, so it will stick out from most cover.


To do well with this weapon, try to engage at close-medium range, and take the time to aim. Spamming off 3 or 4 shells to down 1 guy ends in his teammates killing you. It's also VERY loud without the suppressor, and I like to be a bit stealthier when I can.

Fellow Shotgunner reporting in, following a different tactic.

Since I've gotten the PM5 SP, I haven't strayed from it. I use the Assault 1.5x scope (The highest magnification. I do like to scope far with this thing) and muzzle brake (a test, so far recoil isn't too bad). I generally don't like having my damage reduced in any way, and loud gunshots won't matter if it's the last thing they'll hear before their body is splattered across the wall. I tend to play fairly aggressively with my Aegis as my equipment, playing the role of pointman and occasionally rearguard to take care of pesky bush wookies who try to cloak. There is some reflex and rushing coming into my playstyle. You'll hear me coming but you'll have a few holes in your head and chest before you can do anything about it.

Advantages: As a pump action it has good damage (232, tied with M500 for 3rd most powerful, behind NS2000 (288) and Model 10 (260)) and the handling overall is very smooth, meaning you can go between moving and shooting fairly quickly. It also reloads as a box magazine.

Disadvantages: As a pump action, it's slow. Against other shotguns, you better be able to kill them in the first shot, or else they'll get their second shot in before you do, leading to the obvious poor resolution in that encounter. It's also fairly long so people can see it if you're taking cover. In general, if you can't consistently aim and kill in a single shot, then get used to watching your respawn timer.

General usage tips: Whether you are the pointman going loud or the stealthy flanker, hit-and-run should be your main focus. Get in, shoot them down, get out; don't stop moving. The only time you should stop moving is when you're ambushing someone or you're pinned. You can hold still while capping but it better be in prep to ambush; other than that you should either be marauding the backlines of the cap for flankers or holding upfront with an Aegis if you have it.

While it isn't always the case, for pump-actions, play as if you got one shot and one shot only; like a sniper rifle, one shot one kill. That said, all the tricks used for using a sniper rifle will apply to the shotgun, such as drag shots and ambush shots. When aiming, lead the target slightly like you would a sniper and compensate for your own movements as well if you are moving yourself. When firing from hip, you're going to need to visualize where the center of your crosshair is and aim based on that. In generally, you should aim for the upper chest so that the pellets hit the upper chest and head.

When in cover, you can already pre-aim where you will aim when you pop out of cover. Generally, when you peek out, you will look at the point where you could have fired if you could shoot straight through your cover. Doing this will minimize the time you are exposed while being able to one-shot an incoming enemy.

Don't be afraid to fire at a target that is at a distance. It may take 3-4 shots to kill, and while in violation of the one-shot-one-kill mantra, many times you will need to kill a guy outside of your one-shot range. And sometimes, it will take some popping in and out of cover, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. In short: shotguns may be short-ranged but it shouldn't prevent you from trying to keep up the fight. What should is if you got a bunch of guys on you, but then that's a situation not related to shotguns.

When going around corners, go around wide and angle your camera to have your character be on the side of the screen that you'll be turning towards. Doing this will allow you to spot incoming enemies better and will allow you to ambush them.

Enemies in windows may be protected from the waist down, but that means whatever parts you do hit will hit their face and upper torso, meaning massive damage. Don't be afraid to shoot people sticking out of cover, and it'll give you a higher chance to HS anyways. This is especially true if you have Aegis on you.

Well, I really liked my M1014 long variant until the nerf. I used the MK16 SV variant for a long while and just last night picked up the SAR-21 C. The gun coupled with its excellent damage and high rate of fire make it perfect for close quarter battles. The recoil is rather high, and makes accurate shots beyond medium range quite difficult. I still need to buy the recoil compensator for it.

It's a pump, so it's slower than most, but the damage output makes it effective. You really can't spam it, so first shot hit is critical, and it forces you into the slower, more methodical playstyle that I like. I haven't put any mods on it yet, as it almost wiped my RP. The iron sights are very useable, though, so no need for an optic, after the range nerf, it's all CQB anyways with the shotguns.

Oh, it's also very short, unlike my Benelli, so it's less likely to give me away while in cover. Totally worth the 13k, IMO.
