Just by logging on they can tell when the servers will be the busiest, that way they can allocate bandwidth and cut down on it on times when the servers aren't as busy. They can also tell the average of user time spent on the game just by you logging on and then logging off. They can tell everything from the amount of time spent on the menu to the matchmaking wait time. They can also test numerous other things. I guess it just doesn't make sense to have a beta imo if you aren't going to test all of that. As I said, I love the game but hate there being a set playtime. Pretty much every other beta for me has been on 24/7 or on an entire weekend. I hope Ubisoft changes it so that I can enjoy the beta more and they can collect more accurate data.
