I admit, I'm addicted to Steam, and having to chat with somebody ingame by alt-tabbing every 10 seconds doesn't help very much.
Is there any way that we could add GRO as a non-steam game into our Steam libraries? I've already tried the Yeti_release.exe, but that never got did anything but show me a black screen, and the launcher.exe deep inside my appdata folder, but that one only prompted me to install the game again.

Anybody got any ideas?

Most games that require a launcher/elevation combo break the overlay, the only real "solution" is to type out a .vbs script/C# program that enables the overlay for the launcher and waits for the game's .exe proper to start and elevates that/lets Steam recognize it as the game you're actively playing.

Basically, too much effort for a lazy man like me. I've never dealt with a program that required a .application file to run before the launcher to run before the game, though.

You can get the Steam overlay by adding the launcher shortcut to Steam. Be careful, as this combination has crashed the game for me several times.

That doesn't work for me.. :O I've been trying everything, and I just can't get the overlay to work in-game. Any ideas?

After examination of the game's launching procedure, I succeed at getting the Steam Overlay by doing the following:

1. Add the game's EXE in Steam. By default, it is located at "C:\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Online\NCSA-Live\GhostReconOnline.exe"
2. Once GhostReconOnline shows up in Steam, right-click and choose Properties
3. In the Target field, copy 'n paste what's inside the following box:
   

   "C:\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Online\NCSA-Live\GhostReconOnline.exe" /CustomDLL=AICLASS_PCClient_R /AssertAsserts /language=english

4. (Optional) Change the shortcut name to your liking, and if you installed the game to a different location, make sure to adjust the path
5. Open the game launcher and let it idle in the background (explanation after instructions)
6. Launch the game via the Steam shortcut
7. ???!!?!

The launcher process must be running in order for you to login in GRO, otherwise the game will throw an error message. Once the launcher is open, don't click the Start Game button, but launch GRO via the Steam shortcut.

Also, note that this method might stop working after an update. If that happens, just PM me and I'll figure it out.
