Dont get upset about not beeing able to use cloak because someone have to use oracle.

Cloak on PUG is just to do some kills, Flanking almoast do nothing but gives you free kills. Most of the time ppl dont even recognize that the enemy is gone so oracle is the better choice anyway.

I for myself use cloak only to break enemy bunkers down when i got fearful assault in my team ...
That gives a higher survivability for a short time but even then you only delayed the next push of the enemy.

In my opinion (after more than 45h of recon played) when you have to use cloak to do some harassment, something basicly going wrong with your team/mates.

Oracle is fine, and a great team tool, but what i get mad about is that, out of 4-5 recons on team... (tends to happen when i take a smoke when waiting for a match, if i'm at the PC and see there is 5 other recons on the team, i swap class before the rounds begin) I'm the only one using oracle, and the Snipers are using cloaks :P

And yeah Cloak on PUGS are quite ghey, not that I use/look at it (the few times i use it) as OMG IMMA GET KILLS, but rather as I said, flanking :P or sneaking behind the cap point^^

    I understand you Farrisen.

You know, when handicapped sniper not really useful and i get realy pissed off. I just start teamkilling or block their view.
The bad thing is, ppl that sit around never face the sad fact of their behaviour, so someone have to show them.

Iam asking myself also, whats so interresting of playing sniper. I for myself find it realy boring after 30min of gameplay. Prone, Corner-Sneak, Headshot, 3-Person, Spotting, Prone, Corner-Sneak, Headshot ..... *yyyaaaaawwwwnnnnnn*
Sure there must be a good reason for that.

Maybe its the fact that you can deal the most damage in one hit?
Or the fact that you are in the rescure role for the whole team, as hollywood pretends?
Or is it just because ppl dont know how to move?
Are the movement keys preallocated after installing?
    So many questions ....

I see no problem with the Recon class other than being able to exploit cover. Things like not even someone's elbow sticking around a corner, but he can hit me anywhere or someone prone, me seeing only the tip of his head, but yet he can hit me anywhere. Nothing irks me more than not being able to hit someone on a corner or shooting the tip of his head only for a miss and death. Well, lag compensation irks me the most actually, but GMs forwarded my forum post and ubi devs are working on it (hopefully). Cloak is easy to spot if you're not too focused on something else. If I'm just sitting somewhere, I can usually see the moving blur, and occasionally, I can headshot cloaked Recons who stand from cover to snipe. If I'm in the heat of a fight or one goes around the map and comes behind me, there's not much I can do. I usually use oracle when I snipe and cloak when I flank with an smg. The abilities are fine, but I just wish they didn't take so long to recover. I would say make the abilities regenerate like Crysis, but some would cry that that's too fast. Also, it'd be nice to have a full bar if I die and respawn.

Any other class has a long (== my opinion) cool down on their abilities. Only the recon class can toggle abilities on and off.

That would make the game a lot less tactical. Cloaked recons won't think anymore about when to use their ability. In addition, you have to balance the other classes as well then and specialists having their aegis shield every time they die might be a bit OP.

Thats not a sniper related problem, you can to this( and i dot very often) with other weapons like SMGs(oh noes the freaking OP SMGs again ...) and ARs as well as LMGs.
Btw i "reported" this in a feedback thread, maybe you could add your opinion on that over there to point it out.

But its a good example how selective anyone see things.

After reading the whole thread i must say all those different opinions it seems to be a problem of beein killed multiple times by the same person and calling his setup op.

I have to admit i like playing the recon class but i also like the other classes! atm my highest class is recon but thats because i wanted to get to 20 with one class in this betaphase!

    on topic:

sniper + cloak is important in my eyes especially as counter sniper. at rooftop point a this is the difference between beeing shot and ahooting the other sniper.

sniper rifles are far from op, ok it might be possible to shoot some toes or kill enemys by sniping below the trains but without the magnum ammo no sniper can 1-hit an enemy with a shot to a toe or anything else except headshot/crit!

smg aren't op either i need a full clip to kill an assault/specialist and if the player/team is good im dead before i can do that!

i use combat cloak, vector detecting and either smg or sniper and it always depends on the team if i win or loose! at the end of a match look at the score/KD and u will see there are often specialist or assaults at top (most common guns there mk16 and penta) and at the bottom u will see those fail snipers (0/8 stat sitting at the far back and beein countersniped all the time)! this is a tactic shooter and u have to use cover and know/memorize the enemy movement! this is a teamgame and the lack of competent players is a big issue. once theres a team of 2+ ppl rly playing as a team its a win most of the time.

and yes ive played the other classes and had my 20/8 stats with the specialist! i rly depends on the one playing and since there are alot more recons than other classes u get killed by those most of the time! once ob has started i will play him again i simply love the aegis but most of the new specialists dont know how to use it (i recommend a tutorial where you learn the classes devices)! the recon is beginnerfriendly and thats why there are so many of them but once you know how to play him he is one hell of an enemy too!

in my opinion balance is quite good but not perfect minor weapon balancing and device tuning should be done!
oh and as you may have seen there are now some players that learned how to work the specialist/assault and do "own" with them! the biggest problem is the inability of most players to work as a team and know where to go/aim/shoot! a tutorial showing a cloaked recon and showing the sound of the device would help alot (as with other devices and ppl not capturing points)

Combat cloakers (especially with P90, the assault rifle in smg's body) are bit of a gamebreaker for me and will most likely be the reason that will make me stop playing. (and yes i know stuff is subject to change, for the best i hope.)

I know you can counter them with oracle, people say yes yes you can counter them with EMP and stuff, that is not the case though, burning your one off skill just to try counter cloak is pure stupidity.
So that leaves us with oracle, but do I wanna change to a recon just to counter some combat cloakers on public match as all 7 recons that i got to squad with me are cloaksnipers? No I do not because like to play totally different classes.

To me, there are couple solutions, either change the cloakblur so that the closer recon is to you, the more visible he is.

Or, make footsteps and general noise from movement louder so we can hear them, this is something that i like in many games, that you can hear more clearly whats happening near you.
