It's a browser based game, so there's no DVD or install, knowing other Blue Byte browser games, I'd expect it to be use Flash for the graphics.

I'd also expect it to be a slow paced game meant to be played over a period of weeks or even months. the sort of game you log into when you have some spare time, it's not one you need to be logged into for hours at a time each day.

If you want to increase your chances of getting a beta key, you could try applying for the beta on the English server http://en.silenthunteronline.com/ and the German server http://de.silenthunteronline.com/ who knows, you might even get a key to all 3 betas

Not really, it's just the way most browser games work, they're slow paced so that players don't have to stay logged in to avoid not noticing they're about to be attacked.

I mentioned that it would probably use flash animation simply because Blue Byte are quite good at making good graphics with flash.

I do chat on skype with Blue Byte staff, regarding moderation and game issues in the Settlers Online browser game I'm a moderator on, but although they're in the same office as some of the in house testers for Silent Hunter Online, I've not tried to get them to give away any secrets............ >_>

If there's ever a new, great subsim for WW2 era, it will not be a ubisoft release. That said, I hope if one is made, it's 39-45 and you can choose to play as Germany (Atlantic, Mediterranean) or USA (Pacific) and that it includes the curvature of the earth, and freedom to command your boat as SH3/SH4 allows.
