Next version? Huh? It's been over 4 years, dude. More than likely, there won't be a new version.
Sadly yes. I wouldn't give out suggestions without a confirmation/announcement that there will be a new CM12. Otherwise the whole point in those suggestions practically go to waste.
I really wished there was a Chessmaster 12 coming, but it seems like we won't have one any time soon!
I agree. I wish so many things in life didn't have to come down to money, but sadly they do. Who knows, maybe Ubisoft will have a change of heart and come out with CM12. This is a good point, that is selling the rights to the game to another Company.At least people have the right to know if there will ever be a Chessmaster 12. I personally was very optimistic about CM 12 coming out , but I have lost a lot of that optimisim .There are a lot of questions for example one is how and when did Ubisoft decide not to update Chessmaster?? Another questions that I have asked in other chess forums but have gotten no response to is whether THE KING version 3.5 (the engine inside Chessmaster 11) has been updated by the author to a newer version ( since THE KING still enters computer chess events).If it has been updated then this would imply that THE KING is now privateware instead of Commercial.The current situation with Chessmaster reminds me of MCHESS .The lastest version was Mchess Pro 8 which came out in 1998. Suddenly 2 years ago there was news ( in fact the author emailed me about this!!) about a new version coming out after more than a decade(!), but apparently all rumors were false since no new version ever came out.I think if they do not want to update Chessmaster they should definitely sell the rights to the Game to another company or officially announce the end of the series .The fact that they are not even responding to questions about Chessmaster is very strange .If another company takes over Chessmaster there is a lot of potential here .It could be ported to Andriod tablets , iPad , Palm and Pocket PC ,Mac Computers etc....
what I would like to see is that when the game calculates/thinks for the best option, for it not to think it over again if the game follows the calculations already made, but instead, it should build on top of what was already calculated. In example, if the thinking line shows:

if I were to move Qb3-e6, for the program to continue looking for the best play without having to restart to see if Qf1-a6+ is in fact the best move, unless it was not a fact that that move was the best when previously calculated, since im not sure how the calculation is realy done. Perhaps the system should create a staic or dynamically increasing file with the already calculated results, in order for it to avoid recalculations & become more responsive due to previous registered calculations.

Would be nice if Ubisoft tells everyone if there ever will be a New Chessmaster ?? We should know if the project is permanently over.
I feel like a broken record, but there is still no word on an update / new version of Chessmaster.
