you can't fire while prone diving, and there's a delay after you've landed during which you cannot fire. If someone prone dives in front of you, they're a sitting duck for the duration of the dive.
My two issues: Not being able to fire when EMP'd, and the lack of a minimum fire speed on the handguns. Both minor issues, but the pistol thing's exploitable, the mouse I use has an adjustable "rapid fire" ability that would let me empty my magazine in less than 1/3 of a second. The gun burps, and three guys fall down.
Cover system is starting to piss me off. It looks as though the character is completely behind cover and BANG....right through the wall. Really annoying with the 1 hit head shots.
That isn't a deliberate design choice (although there are some surfaces that can be shot through).
Honestly, I love Shotguns so the fact that they did it right in this game makes me happy. If you've ever shot a shotgun in real life you know that their effective range isn't the stereotypical 5 yrds and no further that game developers love to make everyone believe. I think the range of shotguns in this game is very fair, for most of them. Having a one hit kill with the M500 at 20 yards is very reasonable since 20 yards is still considered (Close Quarters), and other shotguns that are semi-auto have the same range but do less damage so the ARE trade offs. and please before you tell me that this is a video game and NOT real life, I know, I was able to tell when I saw a sniper stand with his weapon and still headshot me (a moving target) from across the map.
Well if u know this game isnt "realistic" and not trying to be a milsim why bring up the argument that a certain thing functions a certain way in the real world? There is a fine line between balance and realism that games have to tread. I think shotguns should just be taken out of the game before they cause a bigger problem with the nerfing then buffing then nerfing then buffing that is to come.
Because while the game might not be trying to be a simulation, there are some aspects of things that should remain remain realistic... Like a weapons effective range for instance. Scrapping a weapon type entirely is a horrible idea because someone thinks they aren't balanced. Shotguns don't do anything that makes them "OP" but in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing they can be deadly, just like any other weapon.
I personally dont have an opinion on the shotgun yet since the maps that we currently have dont really have many "long range" encounters and all the engagement ranges are below 30m. I think the shotguns will need a range nerf if Ubisoft designs the maps with those types of engagements in mind. If most of the map consists of people shooting at each other at <30m than a gun that has a OSK chance at those ranges needs some looking into.
I too would like to see some more "open" maps, but I think the maps now do a good job of balancing CQB areas and open areas. But the open areas are more like hallways in this game. Like the upstairs area of the Metro station, and the starting bridge area of Moscow City.
