'Kremlin' is essentially the Russian word for 'castle' and whilst Moscow does have a Kremlin, the city and it's name have no real relevance to the word 'Kremlin' at all. England and America gave Moscow that name during the Cold war afaik, but after the fall of the soviet union and the rise of the Russian Federation the name has diminished and more-or-less disappeared.
It's pretty stupid actually. The reality of it is like calling London 'Big Ben' or Washington 'The White House'
