If you can't get yours to work or supported I have a couple that I am not using. If you send me your broken one and I can take a look at it and see if I can get it working. I am pretty good at that stuff (IT Helpdesk Engineer). If I can't I would consider sending you a working one simply for the experience of maybe being able to fix the other one or knowledge of how to take apart. Of course I would be willing to post the details of the Ubiconnect so we can further pursue self support.

So has anyone messed with adding more than 8 players.....
I just modified the one script file and changed the maxplayers from 8 to 16 and with one base station recognized and worked with 9 guns and vests. Even started up a couple different games and all 9 players show up in the loading screen and all of the guns and vests work during the gameplay.
Not sure if this will cause any problems but I just got these this week and will be doing some extended play testing with 9 players this weekend. Will report what I find.
My next step will be modifying the game files to make some custom game type CTF and what not.

Which script fie? In the "activity" file there are options for
single = 1, -- harness is not mandatory, 1 or more guns are shared
open = 2, -- championship, harness is mandatory, more players than max. supported
closed = 3, -- harness is mandatory, 1 gun per player

It appears all the game type scripts have "closed" as the category. Perhaps changing that to "open" will allow more? I've only got six guns at this time, but next week will have more to check

Looks like UTActivity.lua to me. Would love if more than 8 could play at a time but cannot test it myself. Hope Putter comes back with more info. Editing this to 16 did not break the game. More guns coming this week. Will update as soon as I try it.

    Wiki

Since I didn't see anyone else doing something like this, I have started a wiki about Battle Tag. I intend this to be about the technical workings of the system, to support hacking and extension.

Edit: The wiki has moved to

I was told by someone who worked on the project that you can change 'Team Deathmatch' to 16 and it would work... Someone setup a wiiki, I suggest we use to to post all these little hacks we find.

Great work on the wiki mate! Be fantastic to see the development of alternative game scenarios such as CTF. The wiki will be a good platform to see that develop.

In case people didn't know, it seems that you can easily copy the entire directory created by the install and play with the settings. I do not think there are any hidden files It is less than 500 MB. I also think this is a good idea for backup purposes since the software updates are likely not going to be on the servers forever. I personally will be making a few DVDs with the entire installation including updates for myself.

This weekend I will try to run a game with 14 concurrent players. Will report back with my results. BTW, I have seen on other forums people say they have had more than 8 connect as well but their PC crashed. I'll be running on a beastly laptop with solid state drive and nice CPUs. If it can run this machine should do it.

Best of luck with the test! It'll be fantastic if you get a positive result with a stable PC!!

    Cool

Hopefully the community can come up with an open source way to expand this. I just picked up 3 starter sets and a med expansion, and I can not wait for them to show up!
