    ANNO 2070 Crashing to desktop after start up

    The other section was useless. So I'll give this a shot. I'm just copying and pasting it.

    Ok, so I've had this issue ever since I bought Anno 2070 on Steam a few weeks ago. Basically, the game crashes to my desktop after 5 or so seconds right after launching while at the loading screen and I have to go to my task manager to stop the process and close it.

    I've tried everything I know. Updated my GPU, DirectX 11, windows updates, uninstalled and reinstalled the game and launcher multiple times, ran Ccleaner, virus scan, let the game sit for a while, adjusted my settings, updated CPU, tried disabling AVG, etc. Too lazy to even try to uninstall and reinstall Steam. I've done more, but it's been over the course of a few weeks and I don't remember it all.

    I have dual monitors (ones is a 32" LCD tv), I've tried playing the game on just one monitor and it doesn't work.

    Here are my Dxdiag specs.

    I can run all games fine, I don't think it's a PSU issue either. I used to have issues with my GPU overheating but I put a fan to it and it does fine now. I can run Crysis, Skyrim, just about anything on max settings, yet Anno 2070 keeps crashing.

    If I need to include anything to help you, please let me know. Thanks.

    I have the exact same problem, i think i might have found something today. In my windows error logs i found this

    09/02/2012 7:39 AM Application Error Faulting application InitEngine.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4ea97cec, faulting module binkw32.dll

    When i checked, i didn't have this file on my computer. I am currently waiting for tech support from ubisoft to get back to me about the missing file. I will keep you updated.

    thanks.

    Exclamation Same problem here

    I know this is a few months late, but I also have this problem. If I alt+tab out of it, a small black box appears in the top left corner of my screen. I also have the loading cursor and the audio playback. I have asked tech support also but nothing has been done so far other than ask me to download a tool called "SAN-TOOL.exe" but mcaffee software sees it as a trojan so naturally I can't download it. I don't know if it helps but here's a link to that if you want to try it yourselves;

    I'm waiting for tech support after I sent them my dxdiag and will also keep posted if anything happens.

    Here you go

    I had this problem for a little while..... my problem was compatibility.
    if you change the compatibility for the game and launcher to windows xp (service pack 3)
    it should work

    I hope I solved your problem
