    What pick do you use?

Time to show off your picks. With pictures please.

    ---

    Here are mine:

When I first started playing guitar I bought all kinds of picks, just to test them out.
So now I have box full of various strange picks, featuring all sorts of special attributes.
I've found that I prefer "standard" picks best though, so these three are the ones I've stuck to.

From left to right; Jim Dunlop .46mm nylon pick - Dunlop Tortex .60mm - Planet Waves 1.0mm
Which one I use vary depending on the song, but I tend to use the middle one the most.

I picked up a bag of the purple Tortex 1.14mm, and they are just the thing, for RS. It made all the tremolo picking, both single note and cord, much easier.

I had used the green .88mm for years, and thought they were pretty heavy, but RS has some string scrubbin' in it, that need a major heavy pick.
I heard they's a man there pays folks money to sing into a can.

    Yeah, RS likes heavy picks.
Personally I prefer lighter picks, specially when it comes to combo-songs where theres strumming involved as well.

Dunlop does make some good picks though

I'm not even sure what they are, my friend gave them to me. He had his bands name on them as a promo. Worn off now though.

I might pick up some gator grips, I hear they work well.
i post from my iPad most of the time so forgive the typos!

I never did get around to testing gator grips, even though I've been recommended them a few times.
Then again, I never had any problems with picks slipping either.

I got a dozen Long & McQuade give-away picks with my guitar purchase. These were pretty decent, I thought (as a new player with no experience to base an opinion)...but get really slippery after an hour. So, I bought a bag of 1.14 and a bag of .88 gator grips this week and they have been quite good. However, I only played a little over an hour with them during their trial. My real test will be on Saturday when I usually practice for 4+ hours.

EDIT: Has anyone tried a pick-punch? I saw one a while ago, before I started playing guitar, but haven't seen one since. It seemed pretty cool as it allows you to punch picks from a variety of materials and even recommends punching your old credit cards.

I like this thread. In the 5-6 years I've been playing I've amounted a decent stash of plectrums! Somewhat of a hobby within a hobby if you will. Some I play with, some I admire

No 'pics' of my picks at the moment but my pride and joy resides with a Zakk Wylde pick I got at a BLS concert in Toronto. Credit goes to my girl friend - the pick bounced off my hand front row, she willingly braved the insanity around us as she was able to find the pic at our feet and return it to its 'rightful' owner!!! Love you babe, a night to remember that's for sure!

ps. I don't have the balls to use the BLS pick - never have, never will

Yuppers. Tortex 1.14 for me also That is generally what I play the game with, but it varies. For attack songs I like a stiff pick, softer tunes/chord arrangements I prefer a thin pick.
