    What is Chessmaster 'thinking' about?

Some of the personalities exhibit very unhuman-like behaviour during the games. For instance, I played Black against the personality 'Michael' (grade 1725) in a Saemisch Nimzo-Indian as follows - 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.a3 Bxc3. This variation exists in the software's openings database, but the program now 'thought' for about 5 minutes before replying 5.bxc3 - which to any human player would be a no-brainer. What is the reason for this? Is my software perhaps misconfigured?

Just as you like a certain opening sequence or a person like me likes a certain brand of earphones like Apple - the personalities all have their own preferences as to which move is best and how to accomplish them. Maybe it is just thinking of many variations before actually making that certain move for sure!
