I can't start the app, either. At first I at least got something from the app itself about not being able to load properly; but now, I'm just getting a connection timeout error.

I think it might be to do with the maintenance going on. Most of the Ubisoft services are down at the moment. Hopefully it'll be back up soon.

I don't know about you guys, but the style of the maintenance image is pretty unfamiliar, and Ubisoft announced the servers are working fine at around 3:50 on this end, but PL is still down. Here's hoping the DDS 2.0 is finally getting here.

Definitely looks like it, this static image clearly wasn't some random placeholder. Keeping fingers crossed for a possible surprise DDS 2.0 reveal!

At first I thought they were finally uploading DDS 2.0 but instead they were just uploading their stuff on other servers

Yeah and no DDS 2.0 as mentioned by nmdogdude. Hoepfully the connection issues are now resolved, the game's been intermittently having them for the past few days.
