Time to Pack Up FC2 ?

As some of you know there are image stutter problems with FC2 as well as screen blanks, driver crash and auto recover, all with Nvidia Graphic cards. I have tried 3 cards, Ge Force 9400GT, ENGT 430 and GTS 450. Same problems. I even upgraded to 450w power pack from 300w; little difference. I tried FC2 on game booster and without game booster, with game booster is better, but still not the answer.

My conclusion is that FC2 does not like the latest Nvidia drivers nor does it particularly like Win 7. I have two other Ubisoft games, Rainbox 6 Vegas and Silent Hunter 4 - I do not have this problem with those games, only FC2. Well, not quite 100% on Rainbow. Conclusion: maybe its time to pack it in and get FC3?

The more Win 7 gets auto upgraded, a necessity, then I believe the worse FC2 will get.

Eitehr Ubisoft fix FC2 or a bloody good game goes down the drain without brakes.

I'm still running XP Pro and lately I've had the same stutter problem you describe. Came out of nowhere. It was running fine until about 2 weeks ago. Nothing I've tried has fixed it.

Its got to be the software, something is not right. 3 cards and a power upgrade dont lie.

I have just been running FC2 for over and hour, with game booster activated, and have had 3 blank recovered screens in quick succession but mostly 98% ok

Try it with this a let me know:

I've been using Game Booster for about 6-7 months now. It doesn't make any difference. The game is playable, but the stutter is getting irritating, makes hard to aim!

    I don't get it,I'm also still running XP ( home ) with a Nvidia GTX 260 OC 896MB GDDR3 with AMD 9500 Phenom Quad processor, BFG 680 Watt power supply ( with 4 12 volt 20 Amp rails ). I've never had a stuttering problem, just a few glitches like a hang-up ( freeze ) about every 10 games ( Big deal,eh.)
I've way over the hundred mark on playing FC2, so something must be wrong with the computer arrangements somehow on your end. Also I do not play my games ( FC2 or any other ) while the Internet is turned on ( just in case you do? ). THAT can get you into trouble quick for a download ( without you knowing it ) can change your computer -or-your games attitude pretty fast.

Game Booster you can have, sorry but I do not like it. I've been running "END-IT-ALL" for about 10 years on different computers. Does same thing GB does if set right.

Later to the both of you and I sure hope you have better luck.

Sorry about that elbmek but my Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 runs FC2 as high as 75 FPS ( have it set to 75 because of monitor refresh rate ) and no lower than 29 FPS. Except for the normal glitches in FC2 that we all get, the game runs smooth as silk and always has. Also I run FC2 wide open as you can not set it any higher. But then again I do run Win XP Home 32 bit. Vista and Win 7 are NOT as good in the PC gaming industry YET. Someday maybe but not today.

Well I finally solved my stutter problem. Basically it was a no brainer, if I had just attention to what my computer was telling me, or more specifically listened. The cooling fans were starting to ramp up and whine. It's amazing the amount of dust that can collect inside the case. The heat sink fins on my CPU were clogged around the edges. So after much blowing, gentle brushing and general cleaning up? No more problems.

    Boy do I feel foolish.

Hang in there elbmek I'm sure you will figure it out.

Good for you Forty5-Seventy. That's one thing I do every two months ( give or take a few days LOL ) I guarantee you that a dirty dusty computer will shut down no mater what size or what components you run. Liquid cooled computers have the same enemy also.

Yeah, I'm also hoping elbmek gets it all straightened out as I know he's hurting right now.

Both of you guys take care. ( thumbs up )
