Thread: My 6800 GT benchmarks & findings | Forums

Yup, it arrived at 8:58 this morning but I had to go to work at half 9 so had no time to try it till now. Its 4 PM & I have work again at 5 so this is just a quick check really.

It arrived & bundled with it were the 61.21 beta drivers. I use the 61.36 drivers for it as they're newer & they were the ones I previously used for my 5700 ultra.

    My system specs are:
    Athlon64 3200+ (2.2Ghz)
    MSI NeoFIS2R motherboard
1024Mb Ram (2x512 not in dual setup)
    Nvidia 6800 GT (61.36 drivers)

    3DMark03:

My score on this was 11284

I use 1076 resolution cos thats all my monitor supports up to. Its a 15 inch TFT screen. It isnt the registered payed for version etc so I was just using the initial settings as I cant change them. Bare in mind I use my machine for other things too. I have not used a drive cleaner & I dont quit any processes.

Here's a list of active processes while running 3Dmark03:

    Name PID Memory Usage
    3DMark03.exe 1216 13 MB
    bcmwltry.exe 324 4 MB
    CoreCenter.exe 1124 7 MB
    csrss.exe 676 3 MB
    ctfmon.exe 668 3 MB
    EM_EXEC.EXE 484 4 MB
    explorer.exe 1928 20 MB
    Idle 0 20 KB
    lsass.exe 756 1 MB
    mdm.exe 1464 3 MB
    NAVAPW32.EXE 340 6 MB
    nvsvc32.exe 1496 3 MB
    qttask.exe 524 2 MB
    rundll32.exe 652 5 MB
    services.exe 744 3 MB
    sgtray.exe 476 4 MB
    smss.exe 612 464 KB
    SOUNDMAN.EXE 504 3 MB
    spoolsv.exe 1348 4 MB
    svchost.exe 956 3 MB
    svchost.exe 1000 20 MB
    svchost.exe 1168 2 MB
    svchost.exe 1192 4 MB
    System 4 244 KB
    tfswctrl.exe 352 4 MB
    winlogon.exe 700 2 MB
    wmiprvse.exe 1824 5 MB

    FarCry (patch 1.1)

I now run farcry in 1076 resolution (obviously no higher cos my monitor cant support higher). I run it on the highest settings with AA on high & AS on 8. So with 8AS 6AA & the highest possible settings the average fps is 70 - 80. I have only had it drop below 60 twice & below 50 once (it dropped to 42 when fighting loads of people in a heavily detailed area).

Heres some screens, as you can see nvidia have fixed there texture & shader issues:

I'll take some in outdoor locations later, I just dont have a lot of time right now. It runs outdoor just aswell as indoor. I have some but not enough time to sort through my online pics folder. I need more web space in it.

    Problems:

    Only 2 so far:

    1) FarCry auto detects to low settings, cant auto detect my card yet.

    2) After playing farcry for half an hour my cards temp was at 70 degrees. I think its time to plug my cases side fan in.

Just one last thing. remember these are beta drivers. Official ones usually run better, I just need to wait for them & the 1.2 patch apparently makes things run even better still for 6800's.

So yea, may post some more pics later after work

Thank you very much for this post. Posts like this are always welcomed

I'm going to buy a GeForce 6800GT too so this is also very useful to me personally

Would be nice if you could post screens where the pixel shader effects are more visible: shiny surfaces, shadows etc..

when PCI express cards arrive, (or already arrived), http://www.nvidia.com/page/home
will you keep it or donate to the Salvation Army?

From what I remember the 6800 cards also support being in a PCI-Express slot.

And stop this ATI/Nvidia fanboy ****. They're both VERY good companies that have their own advantages & disadvantages. What would anyone do without either one of them? Go with Intel's onboard shat?

No they have a pci express range coming out. You can get the 6800 series with pic express instead of AGP

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the top screen shot, you have a min. fps of 29! Maybe I critisize my fps too hard which is why i use some medium and some high settings on my p4 3ghz, 1024mb ram and 9800 pro :P

You're not wrong, but seeing that his average FPS was 111.3, chances are that it was at 29 for a mere split second, which could have been caused by something as simple as coming accross a save point, or some random disk access.

Never noticed it going to 29. That place is a save spot though. It's on the carrier just before you go up to the helicopter so i'm guessing that'd be the reason
