Hi kodorovski, welcome aboard!

Hit "ESC" key to find a screen for some options.
You may choose to "return to base" whenever you want, but dependent on the mods you play, you'll get some renown for sailing back to your homeport. (i.e. Stock 1.4b)
Within ~ 30 km radius around your base the option "return to base" changes to "dock to <homeport>".

Welcome to the forums, kodorovski!

If you are playing stock + 1.4 you get renown for reaching and patrolling the grid. In GWX you don't.

Either way, you don't 'have' to go back to base when the 24hrs are up. Go where you please after that and sink ships. Only return to port when low on fuel, torpedoes or if you have any bad damage.
