How is FC2 with new HC patch as a strategic MP game? | Forums

Now that the Hardcore mode has been added, I was wondering how this game compares to Ghost Recon, COD4 (in hardcore mode with ACE mod), or R6 Ravenshield type of game in terms of strategy and playability in multiplayer?

I do not believe there is a way to turn off respawns, but is there a way to set the respawn time greater than the round length to effectively make it "no respawn"? How would this affect the game?

There may be so few people left without some kind of issue they need taken care of before responding to general questions, but I will take the time to answer.

I havent played any of those games, so I wouldnt know. (lol)

I will say that I enjoy the new hardcore mode, it is much mor engrossing and forces you to move more like you would IRL, otherwise risk getting slaughtered over and over again.

Apart from looking for "hardcore" or "hc" in the server name, is there anything else to highlight servers running in hardcore mode?

Only had a quick look last night but didnt see anything obvious in the filters or menu options - admittedly I was knackered so have scimmed over it, even if it was in bright pink and flashing!

The last time I checked... this was a far cry 2 forum... And you are asking very specific questions. Try rephrasing your question or checking it out for yourself.

Umm...first of all, I hope this is the Farcry 2 forum because if I asked those questions about Farcry2 in the Hawx forum, I would get even less answers than I am getting here.

Secondly, since they chose not to release a demo of the game, I can't check out the PC version without buying it, and I am not giving UBI any more money for crappy software.

To answer your starting question.
Hardcore is nothing compared to hardcore mode in COD4. But then again, COD4 can't be compared with Far Cry 2 because the gameplay is so much diffrent, COD4 plays just more smoother.

Hardcore mode now is not ading any stratigy to the game, now only even newbs can get nice kills. You don't need skills to kill somebody now, and most of the time who shoots first gets the kill. Before you could still win if you had skills.

You can't filter the Hardcore server. I don't know how they could forget that it shouldn't be that hard to add it.

I have played OGR, Graw1, Graw2, Cod4, world @War and ArmA.
The squad based tactical aspect of Fc2 is not there and it is still a run and gunner but with that said having a hardcore mode slows down the run and gunners but they are still there as it is a linear game and probly can't be helped played in general public.

I would wait for OFP2 and ArmA2(after the mods and community have fixed it).
