Thread: Time to UPGRADE! Early photos of the NEW FARCRY Gaming RIG under construction! | Forums

Man I love this game. I really wanted to wait and build a new machine for Half Life 2.

But man! I have been bitten by the Far Cry BUG!

    Current system specs :

    Athlon 1.4GHZ on a ABIT KG7-RAID (AMD-761 Chipset) 1024MB DDR RAM
    Adaptec 29160 SCSI Controller with Cheetah X15 18.4G Ultra-160-SCSI
    Maxtor DiamondMax 7200rpm 40G ATA-100
    ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB, Catalyst 4.4
    Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer

Major slow downs with more then a few guys on the screen at one time. I guess my CPU just can't handle it. Running 1280x1024 85HZ with all the settings set to medium, EXCEPT water quality which is set to SUPER HIGH.

New system now being put together JUST FOR THIS GAME :

    Pentium 4 3.4GHZ on a ABIT IC7-MAX-3.
    Corsair TWIN-X PLATINUM 2048MB RAM.
Adaptec 39320-R SCSI Controller with DUAL 73.4GB Ultra-320 CHEETAH X-15's.
Maxtor Serial ATA 160GB 7200rpm BACKUP DRIVE.
    ATI Radeon 9800 PRO, 128MB, Catalyst 4.4.
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer.

Here is a photo, haven't started working on it yet, still waiting for parts.

Can't wait to get this puppy together, crack open a 12-pack and play with the speakers CRANKED!

I have a similar system....ASUS A7V266, AthalonXP2400+, 9700pro128, 1G PC2100, RAID 0: 40G ATA100 x2, 450W PS. It runs 30-50FPS steady no burps with 16 players. I have all settings high or highest...except sound.. hardware accel sucks frames down and crashes game in 5 minutes.

Check out your AGP aperture size.(128M)
Make sure you dont need a bios reflash.
Dude....get an Athalon 2400....O.C.it to 2099 and get a bigger heatsink and some extra holes in yer case.

Actually had to return the case. After getting almost everthing installed there was just not enough room for it all.

So I removed EVERTHING and now I am still waiting for my new case. I'm so anxious I can't stand waiting anymore.

The new case is made by Silverstone and has lots more room inside.

That new case is a monster.

I used to have an Antec tower, like the old Alienware cases, but changed the case to a smaller, lighter Antec LANboy
