Has anyone realized that this game is taking place years after DA...? Which to me it seems kinda strange that Sam wouldn't have looked further into his daughters death right when he got the news..right? The first mission in DA had nothing to do with the JBA, so he could've signed off right then & there. Why didn't he? Thoughts anyone...?

he had nothing to lose, went on a suicide mission... and survived. now, i bet he doesnt want to live, i bet he doesnt wanna waste it either, so. kill te killer
IMO!

I think during DA Sam believed it was just a drunk driver hitting his daughter just like what happens all the time. Sure, it would tear him up, which made him accept the mission with the JBA, but he didnt think there was much to Sarah's death. I think in between DA and Conviction something happens that leads him to believe 3E had something to do with it, hence him searching now instead of immediately afterward.

I really hope there's something more to the story line than Sarah. IMO it was a weak plot device to break Sam. I don't want ever mission type to just be " Find Sarah's killer "
As much as Sam loved Sarah something tells me why would he risk losing it all. I hope to GOD its not something like Sarah is still alive and everything so far was staged. Sam has always been a calm collective character. I wanna see some of that personality back in Conviction.

would you be calm if your daughter was killed? when she wasnt even 30?

I think it was wise to have Sam have a personal issue affect him like Sarah's death b/c it adds another dimension to his character and gives him a greater drive beyond just working for 3E and completing mission after mission without much invested in why he's doing what he does. Conviction has some higher stakes as a storyline b/c Sam has a real purpose and no longer is just going through the motions.

I can't say much because I am not a father but I can relate to losing a loved one.
As a character Sam has always been calm , cool and collective with years of rigorous training. Using Sarah as plot device to break Sam was just weak. She was an extremely under developed character. Over the course of the series she was never a focal point in the story and then in DA all of a sudden she died. I felt no emotional impact , not because its a videogame but because it was just a way to introduce new gameplay mechanics to attract a wider casual audience in a sequel called ' Conviction '.
Double Agent was just used to give Ubisoft Montreal time to overhaul the core gameplay mechanics of the series and use the story in DA as scapegoat in explaining WHY Sam has all of a sudden gone Jason Bourne.
My argument is that as a character Sarah was very under developed. Over the course of the series we have only seen a few second snippets of her and now as a player were supposed to all of sudden accept Sam's sudden change and understand why hes like this. Losing a loved one can be dreadful but Conviction is set years after the events of Sarahs death. I don't understand why Sam should be like this... If they only explained what he felt.
As a hardcore player of the series. Why should I all of a sudden accept these core gameplay changes over some weak plot device that broke Sam as a character presumably.
They want to go all out on the story ? Then show me Sam's pain in Conviction. I certainly didn't see it in DA. Sam in DA wasn't like what he is now. He didn't shoot everyone up , he was stealthy in DA and this was fresh from the event of Sarah's death. Why would he be all upset years later ?
I'm waiting for an epic story experience that shows me why Sam has all of a sudden changed.

From what I recall no they didn't
Did he get drunk ? It was never brought up in DA's storyline. This was never explained. Should I just go by the snippet clips in cutscene's showing Sam upset for a few seconds ?
