SP trouble in the laboratory

In SP I have made it into the cave and through the first door. Now I'm trying to get into the elevator and I think I need another card or power or something because the door won't open and then I get capped in the head. Please help me!!!

Shoot all the guys before one can shoot you, pull the switch for the generator further in the cave.

One more question if you please. I am new to the game and just playing in SP mode. Are there any mods or patches I should install?

Get the 1.3 patch from UBI.com. BTW, once you install it you may have to restart from the beginning if your saves don't load.

Start from the beginning??? Yikes! Am I missing anthing significant in SP mode by not installing? The game runs great without any issues.
