error 1324 installing help needed | Forums

i had farcry installed on an external hd that i use w/ my laptop. i reformated the hd and didnt uninstall. so now when i try to install the game i get error 1324 invalid character name or something like that. ive tried messing w/ the registry and all but i still cant install it. i went to install the 1.2 patch but it installed on the c drive and not the e drive where the game was. so now i cant get farcry to install so i cant play it at all. someone please give me some help here
