I got as good an education as possible while I was homeschooled, and I'm surprised (and disappointed) at the intelligence of most of the students at the school. It's not everybody, because there are some REALLY smart people there. But most are dumb as sand. And it's really pathetic. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Its the same for every country. Theres smart ppl and dumb ppl. Its not gonna change anytime soon.

Education is paid by the tax payers, only private schools do you have to pay for, and futher education such as univercity. College is paid by the tax payers, not seen one here where you need to pay. Same with our Health system tax paid so anyone can get treatment without paying directly.

Instal Military Law, and force people to not be stupid.

It's people's own fault for being lazy. If they tried, they'd be smarter. It's not the govt.'s fault. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

True. If kids don't get educations it's becauset hey don't care! How many times do you hear of people saying, "I faked my way through highschool!" </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Is that seriously what you think? What about the other people, like me, who have learning disabilitys and can't get good grades for s---? It's not my fault schools don't have enough funding to help kids with dislexia and other learning disabilitys. It IS the governments fault. Yea, I know some people who do just goof off in school, but what about the kids who try but who get so frusterated and cry in class? What about us? Pushing the military style education is NOT something you want to do for kids like me. Everyone is different in how they learn best. Every highschool I've gone to is an alternative school. Guess what? I've done better at this school (that DOESN'T get funding from the government, BTW), then I have at any school in my LIFE. WHAT ABOUT US?!?

well a few things would help

let the govt sink enough money into schools to keep them current with technology, pay teachers enough so that they will actually care about their jobs, and hold them accountable via pay cuts for failing students, also make it illegal to drop out of highschool.

also make the penalty for dropping out of school applicable to the parents as well as the student. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Bill Gates could probably help out here.

Yes Bill Gates should make a school like the one off x-men with cool jets, secret rooms and stuff. That would be one cool school.

What i would do, is instead of teaching like 7 classes a day, or some variation (i have 1,3,5,7 and 2,4,6 alternating days.) Instead of that, i think we should learn like, Math for an entire year, paired with english.

So for your entire freshman year in highschool, all you learn is english and math. Then Sophmore year is History and Science. So forth Et Cetera.

There was a study done some years ago that estimated that people only retain about 5-7 things they learn per day. So if you have 7 classes, chances are you might forget something.

Anyway, i think it would be alot easier.

What?! that can't be true, from year 7-11 start of high scool to the end we retain alot, if not we wouldn't pass our GCSE's. You need a wide range of things, I would seriously go insane if I had maths and english day in day out for a year. You need sport, music, technology and art things where your personality and creativity can come out. Even my job if i do just the one thing for 2 weeks I go mad, have to do a range of things or I get bored.

@ VTAssault, what kind of school do you go to? I've never heard of a school that does that. Not even the biggest highschool in my state does that.
