Thread: Myst 3 on Vista | Forums

So I might be missing something huge here, but I just want to know: can Myst 3 actually be played on Vista?
I run Vista Home Premium, did a full install of Exile, patched it to 1.22.
Except now when I try run the game, it says I should put the CD in. When it already is. I tried running from the CD's autoplay, I tried messing about with compatibility stuff - what am I doing wrong?

    Welcome to the Forums!

Yes, Exile and the rest of the Myst series should run under Vista.

The CD version of Exile is on 4 CD's, while the DVD version is on one DVD. Assuming that you're playing the DVD version of the game, some questions:

    1. Do you log into Vista with full Administrator privileges, close all open applications, then immediately start Exile?

    2. Do you start Exile using the Desktop icon and not the DVD menu item?

    3. Do you start Exile with the Run as administrator option enabled? (See How to use User Account Control (UAC) in Windows Vista.)

    4. Did you get any error messages during your original Exile install, and if so, what was the wording of the message(s).

    5. How old is your DVD drive?

    6. Have you cleaned the Exile DVD and/or the laser lenses in your DVD drive?
