When I first heard about SC:C, and the crowds and new gameplay and whatnot, I always thought that you should be able to free-roam the city, breaking into houses and offices, killing random civilians, and if the need arises, breaking out of jail. Of course, there'd still be missions. I was just thinking you'd need to press start and go to a mission menu, and hit "Start Next Mission" or something like that. Just an idea...

No, a free-roam city would ruin the entire series...these mission to mission structure is good. This is not GTA.

Agreed, but I hope that the missions are bigger than what we've seen of that Washington level in the demo.

I agree. Splinter Cell would not work as a sandbox game. BUT...I think each mission should be very open with multiple entrances and pathways to get thru the mission which the devs have been pretty good about for the most part with some exceptions.

A Free roam splintyer cell would be awesome! just not killing random civilians but think about it, hiding in the shadows, stealthily killing enemies when no one is around, sneaking around one huge level filled with objectives and secrets! But mabye meeting a contact to start a mission would be nice. guards hunting you down throughout the whole game and a world filled with hiding spots and buildings you can explore. Would ruin sc because there wouldnt be any cool secret bases unless they found a way to hide them in the city. and they would need interesting architechture.

Splinter Cell is not meant to be free roam. I can picture it in my head, and it all would go to hell.
