Thread: Alpha weapon images.... | Forums

  1. #1
These are the weapons that are going to be in my mod. Please know that these are only alpha images, I may decide to add more details later if I should think of something new or find better reference pics.

    AK-103

    K-100 Sidearm

    VEPR Assault Rifle

    RPG (Unloaded)

    RPG (Loaded)

    MP-5

    Tokarev TT-33

    M-4 Carbine

Granted, the textures aren't very good right now, but I'm working on it. There'll be other weapons also, I'll add others as I finish them.

Nice to see someone at last working hard on creating some realistic weapon replacements for Far Cry! The only original gun which really stood out for me was the Desert Eagle - weapons like the Jackhammer and AG36 just felt a bit too 'Stargate', plus the angle of the MP5 made the gun look 'chubby' and more like a Nerf gun!

If you own either Counter-Strike: Condition Zero or an ATI Half-Life 2 voucher, I highly recommend you get Steam and have a look at the fresh Counter-Strike: Source weapons for inspiration - they really are fantastic and the best out there so far...

Well, I'm not too good at making imaginary weapons either. This will actually be my first big project.

It's funny you should mention the MP-5, because I agree with you. I'm working on updated MP5 and M4 models which will be included.

The official name of the mod will be "Red Tide: The Ongoing War."

It will be set in present-day Russia, with a storyline based upon a continuing Cold War, and emphasis on a mixture of anti-terrorism, hardcore action, and suspense.

So far, this is the intended schematics.

There will be three of each type of weapon: Assault Rifle and Pistol, one Anti-Tank Weapon, and two types of sniper rifles. You will be able to play either as one of the U.S. Rangers, or the Soviet Special Forces. Multiplayer play is planned, in both Co-Op and Assault flavors. Each will be based upon achieving mission objectives that are different from the single-player game. These missions will be randomized, if possible. I will try to design the maps to encourage using different strategies, such as stealth, dynamic approach, multi-directional assaults, etc.

So far, this is slated to be the provided weapons loadout.

    U.S. Rangers
    --------------
    LAWS66
    MP-5
M-4 Carbine (M-203 Grenade Launcher and laser sight addons are planned also)
    Bushmaster M-17
    Browning BDM
Colt Govt. Model Series 80 (also with laser sight modification)
    Bren Ten
    M-21
    M-40A3

    Red Army Weapons
    -----------------
    AK-103
    OC-14
    VEPR
    K-100
    Tokarev TT-33
    Fort 12
    RPG-7
    Dragunov SVD
    SV-98

Details on enemies and vehicles are classified at this time.

Thanks. One of the Jungle Combat guys has been teaching me in the background. I've always been a quick learner also, so that kind of helps.

Also, a word of warning: The game will not be like most FPS's you're used to. Most people are used to holding down the mouse button and having the gun fire until they release the button (I am guilty of that myself), but it's not going to be like that for non-automatic weapons. You'll have to click the button each time you want to fire, just like in real life.

Right now I'm needing importers and animators (as I can't do either one worth anything), but I'm also working on learning, so I have something to fall back on if I can't get anyone.
