    for the people that dont know SAM=surface to air missle.so where are they? curently pretty much every nation has some kind of air defence and most use radar guided sams so i thought of this
    engneer abillty upgrade required rank hardend-SAM for 6 cp allows placing of a suface to air missile turret at desired location only one SAM on the batifeild at one time i will negate the next 5 airstrikes on any unit or structure withen a certian radius around the the SAM luncher but the SAM launcher can be desrtoyed if spotted via attacking it with any unit
    this ways people come plaining about airstrikes are happy and theres a way to counter it so its not perfect.and dont give me the"let them burn though there cp speach" becuase that dosent really work becuase airstrikes can by pass your front lines and hit key targets like taking out transports so your vunreble to gunships.im not saying i cant beat an airstrike spammer with a good rush but its costly and anoying to do so becuase thell usally try to kill my units to make me stop then whine like a b*tch later when i wipe them out completly

    I like the idea, but then again, im just desperate to get rid of it somehow.

    I think anything beyond Air Strike 2 should be thrown out anyways, when you have some 12 year old on your team who wants to go around upgrading all your uplinks to Level 3 Air Support, just so he can unit kill, it hurts you for a number of reasons:

    A:The other team is now ****ed off, and since they dont know who killed their units, they will kill anyone they can, and for players like me who have a hard time getting units promoted(although ive gotten much better as of last week) it makes the game less fun, and drives the ever-growing wedge bewtween Endwar and the gaming community even deeper.

    B:When that little kid, with no understanding of combat tactics or the attack chain, changes all of the uplinks you and your teammates already upgraded to Force Recon/EW to Air Support(to achieve the goal mentioned in point 1) It really hurts when you dont notice him doing this, you send your tanks into a hornets nest to finish off some almost-dead transports, knowing that enemy gunships are close by, but you thinking you can finish off the transports, EW the Gunships, and get your tanks outta there, only to find out your EW has been switched to Air Support, and your 3 CP just isnt gonna cut it, not to mention, even during the times you have 4 CP, the kid has usually taken up the ability to air strike on YOUR CV or something.


    3. The kid using all his CP on Air Support, instead of units, makes for 3 less targets for your opponent to concentrate on. I dont know whats worse, a little kid spamming Air strikes or the computer burning through our reinforcements. Not once have i ever seen the AI take down transports wiht Gunships, but he keeps on trying..

    4. The Russians. Im SOOOO tired of the Russkies hding behind their Air Support. Why not tommorow when we are in Rondane again, why cant we RAID Rovaniemi? Who says that just because we reach Rondane we HAVE to assault every close map from there? Who came up with that idea?

    You're asking for too much detail in a game that's more of a futuristic survey sim, than it is a hardcore RTS.

    Engineers already have MANPADs, but it just so happens that those missiles can be used against everything else too.

    You want to have a SAM site negate the next 5 airstrikes? Are you serious? So basically, you want your opponent to waste a minimum of 20 CP on nothing. Gee, you believe in balance.

    You're giving your opponent the choice between wasting at least 20 CP on nothing, or scrapping air strikes all together. Awesome!

    F*cking terrible idea. Deal with the air strikes. I'm so tired of you whiners always demanding to be given hand outs for sucking so bad. Tell you what, why don't you get your mobility performance above 30% for once, and you'll negate the air strikes. Stay out of LOS and take the uplinks.

    im a decent player, and i HATE Air-strikes as well..

    While the idea may be not-so-bright.
    He's right that something HAS to be done, its aiding in killing the game..

    Sadly, i think the game encourages Air Strike Spamming.

    Dont believe me?
    Well then lets take a look at a few facts.

    1) What is the cheapest off-map support to buy? Yep, you guessed it.

    2)When you get stuck with an AI commander,he is likely going to deploy engineers, tell me, as soon as those Engineers touch down, what is the FIRST thing they run off to do? Yep, you guessed it.

    3)I saw a demo once with Michael De Plater playing on Reagan Seabase. His number one concern was getting his two uplinks to Air Support, even while his units were having the mess beat out of them. Dont believe me? Go watch it for yourself.

    Because raiding the base won't matter, we will still have air support from Moscow.

    Perhaps make it an upgrade for artillery?

    Rank requirement is like, 1 star. 1.8 mil or something to buy.

    As long as the artillery has the upgrade and is out on the field, it will automatically launch the missile at the air strike, stopping it.

    By making it an artillery upgrade, it makes it pretty fair. Artillery isn't that hard to destroy if you know what you're doing, and if you realize your air strikes are being stopped, you can hunt down the artillery.

    Now, you can set range limits, number of times it can actually stop air strikes, to even it up even more if you still think it's unfair.

    It's a pretty good idea. And I'm sure there are many ways you could implement it. But, if you're going to make it to where engineers just deploy it, the CP cost needs to be around 10. Making it the equivalent of a deep-strike.

    Are you seriously saying this idea is stupid. I think it is a spot on way to balance the field. Like he said maybe the launcher only has 6 missiles and once those are gone the launcher is done. And setting it up doesn't have to be a 20 second thing it could be like 2 to 3 minute thing. Also it doesn't have to have armor so you get it on LOS and use artillery to take it out. I think if you fine tune the details down this could be a great idea to balance maps where support isn't always given to the other side and it also makes the people that relay heavily on air strikes to learn new tactics.
