I need some help here. If this was already posted, Im sorry. I just got GR Gold edition today. When I went to install patch v1.3, it said its already installed, then I try to install patch v1.4, it says I need to install v1.3 first. Any help would be appreciated.

To KayDog65,

Follow the below guide and uninstall the game then disable your anti virus software when installing patches and the disks. Download the V1.3 and v1.4 from the below link:

Patch v1.3, v1.4 http://www.ghostrecon.com/patch.php?param=pcgr

When reinstalling the game follow the Install Gold Edition Version at the bottom of the page[img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img]

GR Uninstall

First of go to your add/remove program and uninstall GR/UBI and then follow below and delete the GR/UBI folders

1-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/red storm entertainment

2-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/UBI.com

To start from scratch uninstall all of GR and UBI and at your own risk do this but first back it up.

(1) start/run and type this: regedit and press ok

Up the top click file/export and on the pop up window down the bottom where it says (save as type) click the drop down arrow and click on ALL FILES. Then select your location and save.

repeat step (1)

1- hkey_current_user/software look for any red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft folders

now do this:

2- hkey_local_machine/software look for red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft and UBI soft entertainment folders and delete

now do this:

3- hkey_LocalMachine/ software/ Microsoft/ windows/ current version/ uninstall directory there should be a folder here named "{D89EF3B3-6F17-4665-B7A9-A4235A6DC787}" with some Ghost Recon info in it so delete only the ghost recon related info.

Install Gold Edition Version

Do this in this order and it should work:

Uninstall ghost recon and all folders/files associated with the game. -Restart computer.
Re-install Ghost recon.
Install 1.3 patch. - install 1.4 patch.
Then install Desert siege and Island thunder.

To Snipe, thanks for your help man. Yo Im new to the pc version of GR. Where would be a good place to start online.Ever game I went to, said they had mods, and I couldnt get in. Can ya guide me to a good place to play.And, do you just use the first disk to play. The second disk is where I installed DS and IS. Do I ever use that disk? Like I said Im new, so bear with me.Gotta start somewhere

To KayDog65,

Not a problem buddy and you just ask away with any problem you have and we will do our best to accommodate you in your query.

First off did you follow my guide and installed Ghost Recon followed by the patches?

Did you then install Desert Siege and Island Thunder CD?

If you did the above then follow the below to activate DS/IT:

Start the game and on the first splash screen click the "options tab" Up the top right you will see a tab called "Mods" Click this and in the left window you will see Desert siege and Island thunder. Click DS so it is now high lighted and in the middle is a activate tab when you click this it will shift DS to the right window under the heading "Active Mods" Do the same for Island Thunder. Down the bottom right click the accept tab and now you have all mods active.

Now read through the following guide and complete the necessary steps to have you ready for gaming!

Patch v1.2/ v1.3.5/ v1.4

You are patched to v1.3 or v1.4 so if you only have GR then you are only able to game with others that are Running GR patched to v1.3 or v1.4.

If you have GR/DS v1.3 or v1.4 then your only able to game with other players with GR/DS and patched to v1.3 or v1.4. Or if you host and want other mates to join you with only GR then once again your going to have to deactivate DS.

If you have GR/DS/IT patched to v1.3 or v1.4 then you can game with anyone with those CD,s. But if the host your trying to join is running Mods then your going to have to download those Mods in order to join the game.

So once again if any of your buddies don't have all three CD's, then your going to have to deactivate the ones they don't have to let them join you

Start and Join UBI

Ok buddy click start/all programs/UBI .com/play online You will get a small window pop up and if you don't have an account click account or just type your name and password in the right spot and click login. Your will be confronted with a splash screen that is an Auto update patcher and just let this run it's course to install the Ubi software.

When that has finished you will be returned to the same small window and now click login. The ubi lobby and friends list will load and when that happens find the Ghost Recon GAME and click the word play now. Another screen will load and look for the GR Island Thunder UNDER THE retail heading.

Now you will see the players list and room names. To join a game double click a game name in the top left of the screen witch is above the chat screen. A splash screen will pop up and load the game now two thing will happen here. If the host of the game isn't in playing a game but is waiting for players to join there will be a holding area where your still able to chat with the players waiting to join.

When the host starts the game you will see a 25 second count down and then you will join his set-up screen. The other possibility is that the game is already up and running and you will be placed in the multiplayer waiting room. You will see the list of gamers playing and if there is any gamers in the waiting list. You will also see the game type and the settings and the message of the day if there is one. Or you maybe lucky enough to get in the set-up room ready to choose your weapon and join a team.

Ghost Recon .exe

Start/ all programs/UBI.com/ play online/ click login/

Under available games on the Ghost Recon click "Play Now" Under the heading "Multiplayer Lobbies" / "Retail" click Ghost Recon 1.

On the top right click "Options/ Lobby Settings/ Ghost Recon tab

Click Detect/ Auto-Detect recommended/ place a tick in the drive where GR is installed on your computer/ click start/ ok

Direct IP Set-up

1-Start the game while online and click the MULTIPLAYER tab and then click the INTERNET tab up the top left of your screen. Down the bottom left you will see this 000.000.000.000:0000 so just backspace these zero's and add your friends IP address in there and click the ADD tab if it's a fixed IP and it will then be displayed in the SERVER NAME listings.

If it's a dialup then just type the IP address and click JOIN GAME.

2-If your going to be host then start the game click MULTIPLAYER tab and up the top left click the CREATE GAME tab. You will be in the MULTIPLAYER SCREEN and down the bottom in yellow writing will be your IP address so you must send that to all players you want to join your game. They then inturn follow the above in step one.

KayDog65 Ok with mod below is a list of links where you can download the ones that most appeal to you and the most common ones used right now are DA 4.9 and HX5 mods along with Frostbite.

Just remember that some mods overwrite original files so make a back-up. Most mods on install has a pop-up window saying it will overwrite file and give you a yes/no sign to continue. It's up to you where you go from here and what you do. Remember up the top how I explained to activate DS/IT well you do the same for any mod you use and if it's no longer required or you wish to change mods do the same but click de-activate.

KayDog65 With the gold edition I think you must have the first disk in to play but if I'm wrong just slip the second in and the game should load[img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img]

KayDog65 Below is another alternative to using UBI.com and it's "All Seeing Eye" but it does require a fee to use the program but it is a good filter for gaming and the third is "Game Spy" Of course you can us the public server that are listed and below are some well respected servers and IP's.

Yep, I did it the exact way you decribed.1. Install GR 2.Install patches 3.Install DS & IT. And done without problems. Yes I know about how to activate the DS and IT mods. Gonna look into the other mods and stuff. And yes, I have the ubi.com installed. When I went to multiplayer, I went to play on ubi.com I looked at the avaliable games, tried to match versions. One game said no mods.But I think the versions might not have been compatible.

Yes that is correct you must find games that are running GR/DS/IT and patched to v1.4. Also for example if the host has all three CD's and patched to v1.4 but is running a mod HX5 (example only) and you do not have it downloaded and active then once again your unable to join that room.

To check if a room is compatible with yours do the following.

On UBI game lobby where it lists all room names on the left is a red icon. Place your mouse pointer between that and a room name and a pale yellow pop-up window will be displayed. Here it will tell you what mods are switched on and version the host is using along with allot of other info.

Snipe, you been a big help. I finally got into a game....and didnt do too bad. It was a team last man standing game. I've been playing FPS games for 3 years now, But I thought it was time too move on to a different game. (Been playing Delta Force 1) But Like I said, thanks Bro. You been a big help.

Yo Snipe, I know very well about the a-holes. They are in all online games. From Checkers to GR!. Sounds like some good advice though. Just trying to have a little fun...take care buddy.
