Hi

I'm looking to buy this game beginning of next week and have been doing a lot of reading up about it.....is the night and day cycle in real time or does that just refer to some levels being night and some being day?

Also, I've had to upgrade my system to cope with it as my current rig just isn't up to it tbh. Can someone give me an idea of how the game will play on my new set up? I'm not one for toning graphics down or anything (I don't see the point of playing a game like this on a machine that can't do it justice).

Anyway I'm upgrading my video card, adding RAM and a new cpu so it'll be...

Hi

You might not be able to max everything out, but pretty close to maxed out.

The day/night is levels in either day or night, there is no real time change.

There's no night & day cycle, its just level by level. You wont have to upgrade for it either. To play on the very best settings you would have to but you should be able to play with all settings on high. All on high is very good. It may even work on very high. You shouldn't have a problem

i think thats what hes going to upgrade to. not what he already has.

i think that will do fine but only at low resolutions. i like playing in resolutions higher than 1024x768. it looks too "blocky" when i have it that low. almost like i can see the pixels. with my 9800xt 256, the highest i can do is very high on all settings, medium on both aa and af at a res of 1280x1024. people say thats huge but i like it. id increase it more if i could.

that's surprising i was expecting to be able to play it at 1280 x 1024 (highest my monitor will go) with high settings with that rig? what component is holding the performance up then?

according to benchmarks, the only benefit over a 128mb card that a 256mb card has is if you play at really high resolutions, which my monitor can't do anyway...

as long as i get at least 30-40fps with high settings at 1280 x 1024 then i'll be happy.

Do you know how many bits your GPU has? 128 bit or 256? (Not MB of RAM)

If your card is a 128 bit, that is what is holding you back. A 9800 pro 128 Bit is basically like buying a 9600XT.

a real 9800 pro only comes with 256 bit, the 128 bit version isn't actually a 'pro'.

Runs very well everything on high (one off very high) - screen resolution is 1280 x 1024. C Very stable and good fps.

I wish ppl would not scare monger about the fps in this game - It also runs well on medium on my 1.6Ghz, Ti4200(64mb), 512Mb PC133 !

And no there is no Day or Night Cycle OR rain.
