Well when i go to play online i get a message saying that 'The map [Map name} differ's from server's' Anyone know what to do. i have the 1.02 patch installed

Hello!

That message means exactly what it says - your local copy of the map it's trying to load is different from the server's copy.

There are two common reasons for this. The first is that your version of the game is somehow out of date, the second is that you might be trying to connect to a server which is running a custom map.

To fix the first issue, make sure you're running the latest copy of the game -
1) Double-click on the 'Steam' icon in your system tray.
2) Right-click on the 'Dark Messiah' entry in the 'games' tab, then select 'properties'
3) Click on the 'Local Files' tab in the window that pops up
4) Click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache' in that tab, to make sure you're running the latest version of the game. (may take a few minutes)

A moderately common issue is if you leave your computer on all the time then it may not pick up game updates unless it's restarted. Restart the Steam program (or possibly your computer), and it should pick up any update you don't yet have.

The second issue would be a server running a custom map. Try reconnecting to the server and see if it downloads the map automatically.

It is possible that the server is running a custom map *and* isn't making it available for download (i.e. it has 'sv_downloads' set to 0) in which case it's not possible to download it.

If you're still having problems, can you confirm the map name and the servers you're trying to connect to, please? If this is the case, could you load the game (double click on the game name in the steam browser) then bring down the console and press tilde (~) and type 'version' in the console window. Tell me what version your client and server DLL's are currently set at - it should be the 24th of October, for the latest version.
