Goliath if you happen to read this, what exactly do game developers do?

Well do you mean Game Developpers? Or Game Designers?

Developpers is the group of us making games. Designer to be specific, we create the concepts and mechanics for games and then give that to programmers and artists so they can flesh it out. We also balance things like gun damage, recoil and all sorts of little details you may not notice.

How would you go about being a designer? Any specific degree would help? Maybe you should have a lot of ideas in your head about what a good game is?

Ill tell you what i tell everybody. Having good ideas isnt worth anything. You have to be able to sit down think about what people want and mold your ideas into something that as many people as possible will want to play. The key thing to remember is that just because you think something is funny or cool doesnt mean others will find that as well.

Plus you have to be extremely social and outspoken because game designers hang out at E3 with booth babes and you gotta be able to talk properly:P

All jokes aside, a diploma from a game school doesnt hurt either, but i don't have one

The Ubi guys need to get coffee cups like the one Lambert has in SC. I, for one, have never seen it but the people at SC seem to think its guud stuff.
