Thread: Question to the devs about potential PC version cutbacks | Forums

  1. #1
With the PC version of SC DA one could crank up the resolution and effects such as anisotropic filtering etc.

But it was also fact (acknowledged by Ubisoft itself in some other interview) that cutbacks were done in terms of character model polygon budgets and decreased texture map sizes.

Hopefully, the PC version of Conviction won't have such cutbacks...or will it !?

i have SC DA and for the most part my rig can handle it:

    intel Q9550 Quad @ 2.83 GHz
    4 GB OCZ DDR2 800 MHz RAM
    275 GTX 896 MB

there were parts of the Kinshasa mission and maybe a couple other parts in the arctic where i could not get playable frames.

i am hoping that the graphics are scalable and with enough options to make it balanced, as well as optimized so that i can have a similar framerate in all areas.
    40" Insignia HDTV 1080p 60Hz - Intel Core i7 Bloomfield Stock 3.2GHz - 6GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator - (2) GTX 480 - Logitech G400/ Slim Illuminated - Creative Headset (simple headset, good quality)

Well, seeing they are again using a modified version of the same UE2.5 engine, I think the scalability will be very limited.

So, I do hope they will keep the polygon counts
in the PC version at least the same as the Xbox360 version.

Really? I have nearly the same rig as you. Q9550 is overclocked to 3.4 GHz, 6 GB DDR2 800 MHz, GTX275 has a small overclock on it too, but I get no lag at all, runs perfect at all times with full AA and AF @1920x1080, it also ran fine on my OLD rig, C2D E7600 and an 8800GT. Got all the patches and latest-ish drivers?

yeah it ran like junk on my last pc too, figured a nice upgrade would do the trick as the requirements years ago are cheaper... like i sad for the most part with updated drivers/ optimized for gaming s/w setup.

i think it was a glitch in the map design tbg.
