I have been having problems playing Raven Shield online since the day I bought it over a year ago. In fact, I've only been able to play it once in all of this time online during an earlier patch. Anyway, I recently updated to the latest version in hopes that the problems had all been worked out, only to find that now I keep getting a message of "CD Key Server No Available" or something similar. I've searched the forum and didn't find an answer that really helped. I've typed the CD key in correctly, believe me I know; after probably literally typing it hundreds of times, looking carefully at the letters and numbers on both the case and my computer screen. I have even tried reinstalling RS, and downloading the 1.0-1.6 patch, but still a no go. Any help would be appreciated...

Most likely you are behind a firewall or router which is blocking a connection somewhere. I play online nearly every night with no CD key server issues.
Check out this UBI FAQ for the ports that need to be open on your firewall/router:

Thanks for the reply; I have disabled my firewall, but it still continues to tell me the "CD Key Server is not available." I have McAfee if that helps any. I'm not too computer literate, so I don't know how to go about enabling those ports if that is in fact the problem? I figured disabling the whole firewall would work, but it didn't, although it did tell me that everything that was blocked before I turned it off would continue to be blocked, so I imagine that is what might be doing it...

Yes, you need to completely disable the firewall. Some firewalls will continue to function when disabled. If you get it completely disabled and the game works fine, you know the problem.
But I would recommend running a firewall, so you'll have to figure out how to configure it so that ravenshield.exe has unrestricted access to the internet. I don't know the McAfee firewall, so I can't help you on that matter.

Alright, I believe I have found the spot to enter the ports at. I also checked the blocked applications settings but ravenshield.exe was listed as a full access allowed application. So that should take care of that. Now I am a little confused as how to enter the ports. McAfee has it set up as follows:
I tried entering 7777 in the "Incoming UDP" and 7787 in the "Outgoing UDP" sections- is that correct? I'm not sure where the 80, 6667, 40000-42000 go though? UDP or TCP?

Well if ravenshield.exe is listed as having full access, then the firewall shouldn't be the problem. I'll have to ask more questions.
Do you have the Windows XP firewall running as well? Verify this by going to Start Menu > Control Panel > Security Center. It should say On or Off right at the top. If on, turn it off and see if that solves the problem. Turn it off by scrolling down to where it says "Manage security settings for..." and click on "Windows Firewall." When the Windows Firewall configuration screen comes up, click the radio button next to "Off (Not Recommended)". Then click OK.
Are you on a home-based connection or are you connecting from work, or a dorm through school? If on a home connection, do you have a router running?

I disabled the XP firewall, but the "CD Key Server Not Responding" problem is still there. I am on a home based connection. I am sorry for being so computer-dense, but how do I know if I'm using a router?
-
Well if you don't know if you're using one or not then most likely you aren't using one.
I really don't know what else could be the problem. I'm suspicious about that McAfee firewall though, especially since it likes to stay on even after you disable it. Is it possible when you turn off the firewall to completely disable it, so that it's not blocking anything when off?

I am getting exactly the same prolem - CD key server not responding, please try again later.
Anyone got a solution for this?
