Thread: Anti Aircraft units | Forums

From what I have played so far of ruse, it seems like AA is underpowered, in a way of speaking. unless you have 3-5 AA units per plane, they can just have some planes take the hit and move right on to destroy your base/units.

I think AA should be made more powerful, or rather take a few less shots to kill a single plane. Right now it takes like 8 shots from basic AA. (IIRC)

I'm not sure if everyone feels the same, but from what little I've played it seems this way.

AA is fine. You just need more numbers, wouldn't matter anyway as the plane driving away is good enough for me.

You can't just have a little AA, you either need to compliment it with fighter planes or have lots of AA....also you might need to upgrade to a better AA unit.

towed AA>>fighters>>medium bombers>towed AA. It's not enough to have 4-5 towed AA in a forest, a couple of bombers can wipe them out in one run.

armored AA is a different thing, it is usually enough to completely deny an area

Also remember that AA units are meaned to intercept an air threat, not stick to the area you want to protect.

You have to place your AA units in a forward position, on the way of incoming planes (and if possible in woods or towns) to make the best use of them. Especially for light AA units (Flak 20mm, Bofors, ...), for 88mm/90mm have such a range than they can be kept closer to the objective.

Yep, this is why having a combination of defenses is important to an extreme. With your AA forward, you can stop a fast bombing raid from directly forward, but you need fighters to intercept him if he tries to send bombers around the long way.

    I dunno guys

It's still cost inefficient. Balance should take care of it ^^. My 4-5 AA costs more than a single bomber . They are slow and good only against air units (basic flak anti tank dmg is ridiculous).

Bombers are more valuable as they can be used offensively and defensively against a wide range of ground units (from artillery to AA to infantry).

I do prefer using fighters, but micromanagement is killing me. If I order them to attack a target, 1 of my fighters kill it and all the others run back to the airport ^^. If Instead I move them towards the target some do not attack... some keep following enemy units up to his AA and I have to manually call them back :P. A bit stressful !

Air Recon is stressful as well :P. To spot enemy AA I have to keep clicking on a position. Otherwise, the bloody plane moves around and soon or later he goes right on top of AA ... and get destroyed.

Maybe it's just me ... maybe I am not experienced enough... however, it would be easy to improve air micro to have a better control :P

Also is there a way to order planes to patrol a sector (not only stay there) ?

    I could use it

it's because they're not a counter to bombers.

    opponent builds bombers
    you build fighters
    he builds escort fighters
    you build light AA
light AA gives you air superiority as enemy fighters can't approach it, and your fighters can engage the bomber undisturbed.

All the other kinds of AA (armored, and heavy towed) are very effective but can't be hidden.
