Thread: can't make the jump | Forums

  1. #11
    ok
i downloaded the xpack. the result when i played once was that i could jump to the pinnacle. i missed the jump (my fault) to the walkway that runs to the training facility. when i played the game again, i jumped and found myself chest deep in rock. so i moved the resolution up some. still didn't work. got mad and downloaded the game all over again, so i am at the beginning. still can't make the jump. i disabled dierectdraw and tecture thing and the other thing in the list. didn't help. while i was there i tested everything and it came out as fine.

there was mention of changing the graphics stuff in uru set-up but i cannot find this. maybe i deleted it?

sigh. i am close to taking the cd out of my puter and sending it flying into the woods.

Ending up in the rock is an Uru bug or glitch. Take a look at hogarth's solution. Press the F1 key while playing the game to toggle between first-person and third-person modes.

You didn't delete the graphics stuff. When Uru starts, the first thing you see is the Uru Setup page. This page has three tabs at the top (Account, Graphics, and Audio) and two boxes at the bottom (Play and Cancel). Click on the Graphics tab to find the graphics stuff.

ok i changed the game graphics settings. i continue to fall through the pinnacle. ( the one time that i was able to land on it, i did touch the journey cloth.) i was ready to toggle between first person and third person but, as i said, the whole situation failed.

i cannot thank you guys enough for your patience and knowledge. i don't think that there is any remedy left that i can try.

I would have a suggestion for you.

You could buy the Uru Complete Chronicles, the Digital download version. (very cheap these days).

Uru Complete Chronicles at GOG (Good Old Games)
Digital download for $9.99 US (Feb 2011)
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32 &64 bit)

You did it 'cause you know you'll love Complete Chronicles!

Not only that, but CC is very likely to make the bug/glitch go away....

For your situation, the best way to install CC is from a clean boot, as detailed under Installing and Re-Installing Uru, "7. Installing Original Uru followed by PotS, or both disks of CC" in Uru: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP. Also, while not absolutely necessary, it's a really good idea to carry out steps 1 through 5 under Overall Windows and Hard Disk Tune-up.

Yes it is a game bug, even in the previous and present Uru Live versions. (MOUL & MOULa)

    Something to try:
In first view, running mode.(no jump, just running)

Note: see my previous and edited post for a link to a digital download at GOG.

mmm - I am having the identical problem. Run, jump with good timing and just fall through the rock everytime...

apparently installing the "To D'Ni Expansion Pack" works to solve this problem. Where can one download it from? I have tried the links suggested from the forum, but they are old and most broken now. Tks
