Will Il-2 COD Collector's Edition, which is a boxed game, be registrable on Steam (and therefore appear in one's Steam game list, and could be downloaded/installed from Steam)?
I would like an official answer to this, please.
Thank you!

Ms. Kleaneasy stated that the Collectors edition does use Steamworks in the pinned clarification thread and also that steam is required for online play, so it should appear in your steam game list, even though it is the boxed version.
Speed Doesn't Kill but a sudden lack of it does.
any official answer for this one, please?
Not official by any means but EVERY Steamworks game EVER released activates on Steam.
Make of that what you will.
I have ordered the CE to activate on Steam.
Well, on Steam's official retail games accepted on Steam list there's no Il-2 Cliffs of Dover (Collector's Edition). And the serial for Silent Hunter 3 which went with it is not accepted to be registered neither.
PS: and as you can see, the list was updated recently, as it contains the Shogun 2 game info, which was only release a few days ago
I would really like to have an official answer, otherwise I'll have to cancel my Ubishop CE order, and make a new one on Steam.
The free Silent Hunter 3 is not going to be a boxed version, it is going to be a direct download version so that is why it is not in the list.
And as for Cliffs of Dover, the game isnt out yet so I wouldn't go by that list. There is alot of confusion and lack of publicity with the title as well, so I hardly find it not being in that list surprising.
Collectors Edition should be the same game as the regular edition, just that it comes on a disc in a box with a fancy pilots manual etc, the software should be the same as the regular version. Its the extra crap you get in the box that makes it the collectors edition.
Bottom line is that you have to register the hard copy versions of the game on steam since it uses steamworks. This means you have to have to register the game to a steam account, it has nothing to do with it being downloaded or coming in a box.
I have some of those games on the list that I bought at the store. They all appear in my steam games list even though I installed them off the disc. They register with steam during the install process.
